Post Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling

Ringo: Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling - Boulder Daily Camera

I am glad the league is looking into adjusting their North/South schedule. What would you all prefer in terms of the rotation?

Would this do anything about our schedule in 2010? I would hope we can separate the whole back to back games against Oklahoma and Texas logjam we have on all the future schedules.

No. In the article it states the schedules would most likely not be changed until 2015, maybe 2014. Maybe a couple years earlier if a broad consensus could be reached.

The league already has completed future schedules through the 2014 season and it`s likely any changes would not take effect until 2015. However, it`s possible changes could be instituted sooner if there was broad agreement for one option.

The changes pry wouldn't go into affect until 2015.

Re: Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling

I don't see any change to the teams we would play, just would rotate every year instead of every 2 years. I'm sure we'd still be stuck with the OU/UT/TT gauntlet, we'd just get to see them every other year instead of having a 2 year break. Not sure that's a good thing.

Re: Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling

Does anyone else get the feeling that OK is slipping a little bit? I'm not saying they'll slide to the basement of the South, but I feel that we're getting them at a good time next year.

Re: Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling

Please god yes, I love having a "schedule of opportunity", but back to back against consistently the 2 best team in the conf sucks, idk how ISU got such a uneven draw on that (A&M, Okie State and Baylor for 2 years, then Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech for 2.)

Re: Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling

I do like this idea. I'm not one that runs from playing OU and Texas in the same pair of seasons. But I do like the idea of facing each school more often, instead of the long drought. Establishes a bit closer of a conference and rivalries, IMO.

Gotcha...sorry, didn't read more than the first couple of paragraphs to be honest. These things are too slow for me to get excited about, and it will likely fade away with no one ever knowing what they changed in the future.

Re: Big 12 mulls changing North, South scheduling

I would like to see the combination of 3 teams rotate. With this model we will always be playing the same 3 teams just every other year instead of every two.

What about adding another conference game? I know the Big10 is talking about adding more conference games but I don't know the specifics of that. What do people think of playing 4 South teams every year? That way you can play each team 2 out of every 3 years and you reduce the advantages some teams get in division because their interdivision games are easier than others. It wouldn't help in getting to bowls, but with 6-6 teams making bowls you should have to win more than 2 conference games to get to a bowl.
