ISU vs BHS: GBU (Good, Bad, Ugly)

    Good

    - Being back in Hilton
    - Seeing the new team for the first time, tons of new faces
    - Everyone that could play, did
    - Everyone that played, scored
    - 50 points at halftime
    - Brackins did in fact return for his junior season, it wasn't a hoax!
    - Dendy hustles like a fool. I thought at one point he was going to run himself into passing out
    - Gilstrap looks the part so far. And oddly enough, he had a really quiet 14 point night
    - DG got to play some of the 2, hit an outside shot and I loved his pump fake and dribble to the jumper early in the game
    - Christopherson's two coast-to-coast layups in traffic, when was the last time we had a guard who could do that?
    - And that he came back in after what looked to be a scary knee injury
    - Anyone see Hamilton? Did ya recognize him? I didn't, which is a good thing.
    - Lucca looked a bit quicker on both ends of the floor
    - Speaking of Lucca, he was talking a lot out there, great communication
    - The lineup potential of Buckley, Garrett, Dendy, Gilstrap and Brackins excites me offensively, very much
    - Boozer finally took one too the hoop. If he does that more often (which he can do), he'll get valuable minutes this season

    Bad

    - Colvin did look good, but was erratic early
    - Not getting to 100
    - Not bad, but as close as I could to it - the 3's fell but still taking too many quick outside shots
    - Hey Boozer, pass the ball
    - The lineup potential of Buckley, Garrett, Dendy, Gilstrap and Brackins concerns me defensively
    - No JVB, but should be back soon

    Ugly

    - Rosie O'Donnell

    I know it's exhibition....but 1 for 7...?
He needs to find a open guy when your not feeling it, or get closer to the basket for better shots. Team shot 56% which is really good!

I liked Chris Colvin's quick hands defensively. He can really put pressure on the ball handler. He also flashed some excellent passing skills.

Boozer = odd man out. Just a prediction.

I hope not, I love the energy he brings, but needs to find his role. I really think Mac will have a 9 man rotation and play as many as 10-11 guys on some nights.

Gilstrap was so pumped up to play that he wore himself out...it was said that his nerves were running high, so he may not have had the night that he could have, based on how he is doing in practice. I'll be really excited to see him play when he settles down.

Boozer has great energy, and I agree with what you're saying. I think he is also one that needs to settle down out there.

I think this is right, but that's going to leave someone out...

    Brackins
    Gilstrap
    Dendy
    Hamilton
    JVB
    Garrett
    Buckley
    Colvin
    Christopherson
    Lucca
    Boozer

That's 11 players, and barring an injury/illness, I don't think we play that many each night. I love having Boozer come in and provide a spark on nights we come out flat, though, and I think that's his ideal role on this team. Problem is...I don't think he's happy with that role.

10-11 won't happen during any meaningful games.

Too much depth would be a unusual problem for Mac to have at ISU.If history has taught us anything we will get some bumps and bruises (knock on wood here) along the way. If Greg can can achieve team chemistry, as he has said "this could be a special year"

    - Not bad, but as close as I could to it - the 3's fell but still taking too many quick outside shots - probably going to be an ongoing issue with GMac teams - need to learn discipline, or at least putting the ball in the hole.
    - Hey Boozer, pass the ball - yeah, Boozer, pass the ******* rock...
    - The lineup potential of Buckley, Garrett, Dendy, Gilstrap and Brackins concerns me defensively - hopefully it makes up for it offensively
    - No JVB, but should be back soon - we'll need him - it'll help out with the 3pt problem above

    Ugly

    - Rosie O'Donnell - well, yeah, if we're going for obvious truisms. However, if you just learned that last night...
Good analysis. Great to hear about the goods on this team...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

IMO, we are a lot better rebounding team than we were last year.

I thought the same thing. Dendy has really good hands and it seemed like he could really snatch rebounds.

Definitely thought Colvin had the best lateral movement of the PG's.

I don't think it's close at all. The new guys on the front line were the rebounders that we expected. I didn't expect to see that Colvin likes to get in there, and I don't ever remember seeing Lucca so active on the boards.

That was a fun game. 100 points would have been a great exclamation point, but I'm not complaining.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
