    high school football playoffs

    the first round is tonight.

I'm not sure about 1A, 2A, and 3A but here are the 4A matchups.

Dowling (10-0) hosts DM East (7-3)
    Marshalltown (10-0) hosts Waukee (7-3)
Iowa City High (10-0) hosts Hempstead (8-2)
Clinton (10-0) hosts Cedar Falls (8-2)
    Ankeny (9-1) hosts Johnston (6-4)
    Linn-Mar (9-1) hosts CR Xavier (8-2)
    Urbandale (8-2) hosts Valley (6-4)
CR Washington (8-2) hosts CR Kennedy (5-5)

Any of you guys following any of the games or going to any of them. I'm listening to the Dowling game which is on 1150 KWKY. I hope that Urbandale beats Valley because its good to see a team like Urbandale, who hasn't had much success before, do good, and also, to show a team like Valley that you can't just screw around in the offseason and expect to do things in the playoffs.

Urbandale ftw. I wish I could go to that game, but I've been waiting since february for the first men's bball game. So that's more important.

LutherClone- If you go to the Cedar Falls-Clinton game I'd be interested to know what you think of Clinton's David Johnson.

    Re: high school football playoffs

Dowling spanked East. East couldn't do anything on offense. Dowling was sloppy on offense for most of the first 3 quarters.

    Chad Gilson.

He plays quarterback but he can run it. He also plays linebacker and apparently ran a fumble recovery back for a TD. They play dowling next though I believe. They played without gilson last time they played Dowling and got spanked

    Re: high school football playoffs

Urbandale's best player is probably jevoury wedderburn though.
    He went off this season

    308 yards 3 TD's against S.C. East
    134 yards against Ankeny (lost 7 - 3)
    230 yards 3 TD's against Southeast Polk
    252 yards 3 TD's against Indianola
    271 yards 4 TD's against S.C. East
Tonight they slaughtered Valley, i don't what his stats were like though

    Re: high school football playoffs

Waukee gave M'town a scare tonight. They looked much better than the first match-up but the Bobcats pulled it out with a 5 pt win. Can't remember the final, I had to leave at the start of the 4th because my kids were cold I listened to the end on the radio and Waukee was threatening to score at the end. The refs were very flag happy tonight on both sides.

    Re: high school football playoffs

i was at the Urbandale game and Chad Gilson was a man amongst boys tonight. he was part of 5 touchdowns. he passed for 1, ran for 2, intercepted 1 for a td and i think had the fumble recovery return for a td as well. Jevoury did well, had over 100 yards and got 1 td. When UHS played DHS last time Gilson had just injured his hand and was not very effective. Friday will be a different game.
