    Seat backs for Jack Trice

I emailed this idea to Jamie this morning and here's what I got back. This is my first time sending an email to him and he responded almost a half n hour later. What do you guys think of the issue?

I will try and make this short and sweet for your sake Mr. Pollard. I'm just trying to throw my opinion in from a hardcore football fans perspective on how to cover the topic of easy ways to give Jack Trice Stadium a much needed face lift with a tight budget... Why not get an estimate on how much it would cost to add cardinal and gold seat backs to every seat in the stadium, just like the middle section of the lower decks. This would cover up the old looking cement mix with the present cardinal and gold that we see in the rest of the stadium. I believe that this would give the stadium a much more rich and intimidating look, especially with the dead empty space that the new concourses will cover up in 2008. Thanks for listening and don't forget that cyclone nation is behind you %100 right now. Keep up the good work!

    Jamies Response:

    Tim,

Thanks for you email and idea. We made inquiries into that last year and found it to be more expensive than you can imagine. However, at the same time, several fans got wind of it and also wrote me to say do not do it because not everyone finds those benches comfortable. We certainly have not ruled it out but at this time we are focusing on the first phase of the project and than we will go from there.

    Thanks.

All the seats should be filled and everybody will be on their feet cheering on the cyclones so we dont need any stinking seat backs.

I think when Drake renovated their stadium, they just put a new layer of concrete on everything. At least that's the way it looks at the stadium.

Lets make the seats as uncomfortable as possible so people will stand up and cheer instead of sitting on their hands all game.

Re: Seat backs for Jack Trice

Jamie should just set up an email template. Something like this:

"Thank you for your suggestion. I have already thought of that idea. Actually, I have thought of about every idea. I am a machine. I don't sleep. I think of ways to improve Cyclone athletics, schmooze the big donors with my charming personality, and respond to emails 24 hours per day. Thank you for your support of ISU Athletics. Sincerely, Jamie Pollard"

Re: Seat backs for Jack Trice

If you want seat backs you can pay for the ones that they bolt onto your seat or something I think. A few people in our section did that and they are fastened onto the bench somehow so someone can't slide them off and use them on another seat.

the seat backs you can opt in for, IMO, are a lot more comfortable then the hard uprights mentioned in the email.

    And for just $10.

That's one thing that does annoy me are people who take more than their seat of room. The other year at the Iowa game one of the guys that has season tickets with us was forced to find somewhere else to sit by an usher even though he had a ticket with his seat row and number in that section and was trying to get the usher to sort it out so he could sit in his own seat.

I thought it was $30 or something. Then again, it may have gone up this year and I don't recall what I paid for 'em.

They're worth it though - saves the back/butt plus you won't get squeezed when 3 people are trying to cram into the same spot.

No way, if I have the ticket, I am going to everyone in that entire row and demanding they show me their ticket. No way am I moving to somewhere else because the row is full.

We have 2 enormous people at the end of our row that cannot even bother to get up when you have to walk by. They actually complained when my wife was pregnant with twins that he had to go pee too much. They are lucky she did not end their lives right there.
