    Underachievers

Are the 2007 OSU Cowboys the biggest disappointment/underachievers in the Big 12? How does a team that is ranked during the first part of the season end up tied with ISU and Nebraska?

They weren't that good last season and they basically have the same roster. I think they were just "fools gold" for the first part of the season. They never beat anyone on the road either. Iowa St last year were bigger underachievers IMO.

I compare them to UNI this year...hot start, slow finish. I don't know if it is a coincidence that both have 1st year coaches learning the ropes or not.

You could also add Oklahoma to that list. They were in good shape to make the NCAA tournament before they came to Hilton...and then they didn't win a game the rest of the year.

Actually, I think they played alot like a traditional Alford Hawkeye team. Beat some very good teams in the pre conference, than fold in conference play. However, the Hawks have seemed to get past this tradition the past few years.

I think after losing as bad as they did to Nebraska last night, they are going to go in on Thursday and come out with the W. I wouldnt at all be surprised to see them make a run for the Big 12 Championship game.

    Re: Underachievers

You have to have players, but I think OSU 's problem is SuttonII is not Eddie. This guy has an attitude, and it is my opinion only, he rubbed some players the wrong way. As far as Iowa overcoming their traditional flop, credit Craig Neal, Alford is too busy grandstanding, calling press conferences, and fixing his hair. If Minnesota or Indiana State or Evansville doesn't offer this guy a head coaching job, they are making a mistake IMO.
