    BIG XII -When the H...

are you gonna get with the program? IDK how many times I've heard fans of big 12 teams complain about the TV coverage (mostly Iowa State, Nebraska, and Texas fans)...but this is ridiculous...This is a big time conference and they need to get something together that a big time conference deserves, I heard that the little 11 (big 10) is getting their own TV channel next year? If that's true this is bull.

Anybody know what the heck is wrong with the higher-ups at the big 12 conference?

Do some research online and look up the state populations of the B12 conference states.

Texas of course is the biggest, and one of the biggest in the nation. Outside of Texas, you have outposts like Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Missouri. Not exactly a lot of TV sets in those states, collectively.

The Big Ten has the best TV contract because there are more TV viewers in Big Ten states than there are in any other conference.

Until more people start to live in Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, OK and Mizzou, you won't get the same deal.

As for the B10 network, there are more living alumni from B10 schools in this nation than any other conference.

I do expect the B12 to get some sort of network at some point.

I don't give a flying crap what network they show Big12 games on, as long as it would mean that I never have to see a Whataburger commercial again.

Good point Jon, did I really say that just now??? But there are 3 or 4 Big 10 teams that are fun to watch on TV:OSU, UM, MSU, and maybe Purdue when they are playing Notre Dame. I refuse to mention Iowa, btw. The Big 12 is just a more exciting brand of football, people will see the light soon.

I have to admit, I liked Whataburger, although it is a heart attack on a bun.

I am not saying there aren't fun teams to watch in the big 10, but there are just as fun ones to watch in the big 12...i am not saying the big 10 doesn't deserve a channel/network, but so does the big 12, and the pac 10, and the sec, and the acc, and the big east. those big 6 are deserving. you don't think the state of texas could pull in enough viewers on its own for the big 12? they only have 4 schools...The big 12 doesn't lack in very much at all, but it just seems to be farther behind in respects to tv contracts...

Also, the Big 10 conference commisioner is man...I watched at Outside the Lines on him about how he is proactive, demanding, and really has the best interests of the conference in mind. People actually fear the guy.

    Seems to be working...

(What are the odds ESPN claims Ohio State is the best team ever again this year)

Also I heard last football season that the big 12 network is coming out in the 2008-2009. Not sure where I read it but I am pretty sure I did.

I think if you did some research you'd find that the population of the Big East states (football only) is far greater.

Point being, there is more to a decent tv contract than just the number people in a state.

Re: BIG XII -When the H...

Whataburger is a tasty burger. Good breakfast, too.

While I'm all for having a Big 12 network, if you listen to most Big 10 fans, they're all complaining because it'll probably either be a pay network, or their carrier may not carry it.

Personally, I'd drop those 37 Skinemax channels for a Big 12 Network any day.

Of course, they'd better price it in line with the production quality. The ESPN+ games are HORRIBLE. I'm not paying $12/mo for a bunch of games shot on VHS. The televised Iowa High School Football Championships the last couple years have blown the ESPN+ quality out of the water. They don't even match their cameras before the broadcast anymore.

If it's going to be a pay channel, I'd like to see it in HD.

I agree somewhat CloneWorld, BUT its easy to be "proactive, demanding, feared" or whatever else you want to be as long as you have the "TELEVISION SETS" on your side.

Until the big 12 gets into bigger markets its just not going to get a whole lot better.

I would say that the north half of the conference usually gets screwed on a regular basis re television by the south half of the conference!

No news here boys....AND Husker fans do ***** and bellar about not being on television enough! The whole north should do more griping and then maybe it wouldnt be ... "Well if you get good we'll put you on tv."...quoting the big 12 commish!!!!

Hey Commish when we get good we dont need a conference tv setup we'll be on ABC!!!

Re: BIG XII -When the H...

The Big 12 leadership is never proactive. Just yesterday someone asked the commish if he was going to do any lobbying for the Big 12 bubble teams and he says, "well, no, not really. Everybody sends those things out and I never read them when I was on the committee." Well, that may be true but if everyone else is lobbying for their teams and you're doing nothing doesn't that kind of put your teams at a disadvantage? What's the point in not doing it? You have somebody type up a paper with the best case you can make for KSU and Tech and sign your name to it. Are you too lazy to do that?

Other conferences will go to bat for their teams while this one will almost always sit back and take the attitude that it's going to happen anyway so why try. Remember when the Pac 10 said if their team got screwed in the BCS they were out? Well, they didn't get screwed.

Don't even get me started on how instead of working to make sure the officiating in this league isn't as brutal as it has been they pass a rule that you can't even mention the word "ref." Completely, 100% reactive...to everything.
