    Robinson, Arnaud Both Practiced Tuesday

Bobby La Gesse of the Ames Tribune is reporting that both Alexander Robinson and Austen Arnaud practiced yesterday. La Gesse says that Arnaud did throw for part of the practice and that the coaches took A-Rob out after a while because they were "pleased with his progress and didn't want to push him too much."

My Take: Great news here obviously. I don't think that Iowa State can win on Saturday without these two on the football field. The Clones will need to score against the nation's third best offense.

I'm still questioning Arnaud's progress, but I do think A-Rob will play.

I think we said the same thing about the game in Lincoln last weekend

That being said, aTm's offense isn't nearly as anemic or dysfunctional as Nebraska's, and as well as our defense has been playing, this game is probably going to have a similar feel to the KU game. In other words, we're going to have to put up points. We'll need two of our best playmakers if we're heading into a shoot out.

Re: Robinson, Arnaud Both Practiced Tuesday

So lets assume for a minute that neither play again this weekend. Last weekend versus UNL, the offense didn't need to win the game. All they had to do was play safe and score a few points. UNL's O was so horrible, it wasn't going to be a shoot out. TAMU has a fantastic O but poor D. I see this as a game where the offense will NEED to try to keep up with the scoring output (unless our D are world beaters again). If they don't play, you would have to figure that they open things up a bit for Tiller and he passes a lot more than versus UNL. Is this a bad thing? Also, with TAMU's D supposedly as bad as it is.....Wait for it....is this a good game to try out Bo Williams or Blankenship as opposed to running style of Schwartz? If the D has holes, break away speed could lead to some easy scores.

Some things to think about should they not play. Lets hope they both play and everything is fine.

I'm really excited about A-Rob being out there. AA too, obviously, but I think our best shot at victory is to play keep-away out there. Run the ball, and wear their defense into the ground. It isn't that good to begin with, so we should be able to demoralize them in the trenches. This keeps our defense as fresh as possible to try and slow down one hell of a good offense.

Just out of curiosity, this based on anything other than the article?

Complete agreement here. Their offense can't do anything from the sidelines.

We know we can run on them. Let's do that, and beat them old-school style.

Wouldn't mind seeing Blankenship go if A-Rob can't. At Oklahoma State in 2000, Mike Wagner started as a freshman in place of Haywood and had 170 yards and 3 TDs in a game the Cyclones won on a last-second touchdown pass. I would like to see a repeat of that... maybe with less drama.
