    Bowl Lineup

OK, I'm taking a turn to get ahead of myself, but it's for budgetary reasons, so I can convince myself it's OK.

I can't ever remember this one. What is the Big XII bowl lineup, and especially with the dates that each game is played.

This kind of thing helps me to plan to see if we can make a nice little trip for ourselves. Also, I guess, what have bowl tickets usually run?

I can't provide you with the whole list, but Independance Bowl in Shreveport is Monday December 28th, and I have little chance of making it for a varriety of reasons.

Texas and Insight bowls are December 31st in Houston / Tempe (Phoenix AZ) respecitvely.

Even though playing Navy probably constitutes a conflict of interest for me, I'm reeeeeeeally hoping for that Texas bowl in Houston

No I wasn't running through this same drill last night

Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State,

Automatic bids to college bowl games - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Big 12 Conference

The Big 12 has nine bowl tie-ins, eight of which will choose a Big 12 school in any given year.[2]

    • #1 Bowl Championship Series. The winner of the Big 12 Championship Game receives an automatic berth to a BCS bowl game, preferentially the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
    • #2 The Cotton Bowl receives the second choice of Big 12 teams.
    • #3 The Holiday Bowl receives the third choice of Big 12 teams.
    • #4-5 The Gator Bowl, Alamo Bowl and Sun Bowl receive the fourth and fifth selections on a rotating basis. The Gator Bowl gets the first pick between the second Big East team and the fourth Big 12 team. If they choose a Big East team, the Alamo Bowl gets the fourth Big 12 selection and the Sun Bowl gets the fifth Big 12 selection. If the Gator Bowl chooses the fourth Big 12 team, the Alamo Bowl receives the fifth Big 12 selection. The Gator and Sun Bowls also have the option of selecting Notre Dame, as long as Notre Dame is bowl eligible and not playing in a BCS bowl.
    • #6 The Insight Bowl receives the sixth choice of Big 12 teams.
    • #7 The Independence Bowl receives the seventh choice of Big 12 teams.
    • #8 The Texas Bowl receives the eighth choice of Big 12 teams.

Nice use of links. I can put something together based on that.

Any estimates of costs for these games, especially something even loosely based on experience (or ticket company evidence)?

    Re: Bowl Lineup

The way I see it ISU should just win the North.....go the Big 12 title game and beat an undefeated Texas which sends a 12-0 Iowa to the National Championship game.....the state of iowa might fall off the map if that happened.

    Re: Bowl Lineup

    Good stuff, guys!

From what I'm seeing here, the costs for this aren't really out-of-this world, and most of the games happen at a point when time off from work isn't a problem for at least one of us.

I was concerned that it could be out of reach, but I hate to wonder something like that without facts. The numbers say this can probably be done.

Thanks for your help and research!

In such a scenario atleast then people wouldn't ***** about how we shouldn't play the game because it has no relevance

    Re: Bowl Lineup

So when ISU runs the table and gets to the Orange bowl what's the chances of getting a flight from Miami to Chicago on Jan 6th?

    Re: Bowl Lineup

I think ISU would be best fit in the Insight. The Big Ten has a top 5/6 teams that are pretty tough (PSU, OSU, Iowa, MSU, Wisconsin, & and even Michigan when they want to be), but after that, it drops off considerably. The Big Ten team in the Insight would be likely Northwestern or Minnesota. A Minnesota/ISU Insight Bowl would be interesting. I'm kind of rooting for that.

The Insight would be a nice destination. Obviously, it has a lot of sentimental value to us ISU fans as well.

Both Minnesota and Northwestern would have regional interest, so I would be OK with either. I actually think a game against Northwestern would add sentimental value for us, given that we earned our nickname (Cyclones) against them.
