    Bowl Game $$$

If/When Iowa State goes to a bowl game what does the football program stand to win as far as money? I am guessing bigger bowls get more money, but can anyone give me an idea based on some of the bowl games we may go to. Does the team get money just for making it to a bowl as well? I am just curious because I know our program needs funds and am just wondering how much this stands to help.

The lower tier bowls, pretty much all of them except BCS bowls, will make enough money to pay for the trip. There won't be much excess left over after the trip to make a big difference.

By the time they pay for everything associated with the bowl, they probably don't clear much from the smaller bowls. OU and Texas, etc. where the payout is multi-million get their stuff paid for and then the rest is split between the schools.

After expenses I'm pretty sure bowl money is split amongst all B12 schools.

This is why it is very important for the conference to get 2 BCS invites. We need UT to be an at large bid. The best chance of that happening would be Okie State winning this weekend and winning the South. There is a better option. A big Cyclone victory over the Horns in the conference championship game.

what is more important are the extra 15 practices...you can really work on developing young talent during those practices...

The biggest thing this team will get is more exposure, and more practice time. Both things that would be a tremendous help heading into next season.

My "Hawk" Friend call to congratulate me on the win last night, and he mentioned that he would like to see ISU win the BIG 12 Champ. as well. I think a lot of it had to do with Iowa getting into the BCS Champ. if they can win out and Texas loses. That is if Texas is the south representative in the Champ. game.
