    Goals and Expectations

I have high expectations for this team, yes, but don't call the a&m game a letdown if we lose. I expected isu to win 5 games pre-season, and they accomplished that. From here on out, every game that we win will just be gravy. Remember, he is still a first year coach, so demanding the guy to coach lights out for the rest of the season- ending in a 6-7+ win season is quite unrealistic and unfair.

My point: a loss should upset the players and coaches but not really the fans. CPR has proven himself and we should all be behind him regardless what happens the rest of the season.

On the flip side, how many streaks have we broken this season?

    -Snapped 10 game losing streak
-Snapped road losing streak since 2005
-Snapped conference losing streak since 2007
-Snapped conference road losing streak since 2005
-Snapped @ nebraska losing streak since the 70's

    What do we have left?

    -Big 12 north outright
    -Big 12 title
    -10+ win season

All of those are pretty lofty goals for coach rhoads and he believes he can accomplish them. Speaks volumes for his confidence.

    Re: Goals and Expectations

I could not agree more. In fact, I thought that a four win season would be the norm. Guess I was wrong...and happily wrong at that!

Now, let's cheer the CYCLONE TEAM on against aTm for a huge win...and take it one game at a time.

Agreed but why is this in In-State Rivals?

I'm very happy with his first year. Everything from here on thru is gravy like you said.

    Re: Goals and Expectations

I agree that this team and coaches have met and exceeded all pre-season 'fan' expectations, but if we do not come up with at least one more win I think all involved (players, coaches, fans) would be and should be very disappointed. Yes, we have broken many streaks and accomplished many goals already, but the stated goal of this football team before the season started was to not only make a bowl game, but to win it! By my count that leaves at least two more goals on the board at this point: Qualify for a bowl & Win a bowl.

Winning the north & winning the Big XII championship would be the gravy.

    Re: Goals and Expectations

I would agree that at this point, a bowl game is a reasonable goal and leave it at that. If we actually win the aTm game, then we can start talking better bowls or the North title.

At this point I'm still not sure how good of a team we are. We beat an awul NDSU, mediocre Kent State and Army, beat a Baylor team without their stud QB, and eeked out a win over Nebraska that took 8 TOs and still went to the final minute. Yes, we went to the final play with KSU and KU, but at this point I can't really tell if that is because we are good enough to play with anyone or if KSU and KU are just over rated.

All I am saying is even if we lose out, we still did as much as anybody could have reasonably expected. CPR is off to a great start here. However, for everyone out there getting their panties in a bunch about a trip to a lowly bowl like Texas or Independence, or everyone playing out the scenarios to win the North, just don't set yourself up for disappointment. There is no need for a meltdown if we lose this weekend. We still have plenty more opportunities to accomplish some great things this year, and this team has already over achieved based on our last 3 years. Enjoy it, but don't drink too much of the Kool-Aid!
