    Yancy McKnight

I talked to McKnight this spring and he talked about doing a lot of deceleration training to help defensive players with open field tackling. I am sure he doesn't deserve all the credit but we are a much better tackling team this year. Also our O-Line seem to be a lot more athletic this year. I am anxious to see what the team looks like after another year of his training.

He is one of the best pick ups in this staff, and I am sure he can do wonders. but, come to think of it. I can't think of a bad pickup on this staff. CPR really did a wonderful job hiring his coaches.

Shoot I spelled his name wrong in the thread title. Is there any way to edit that?

    Re: Yancy McKnight

The question is when we start winning and people take notice, can we afford to keep this assistants we have? Herman is a young guy and I'm sure would like to be a head coach someday. I can see teams coming at him strong at some point. I really, really like Wally Burnham. That guy is old school and is definitely getting all he can out of our D.

I agree. Shane Burnham was a ? coming in due to his lack of experience but he has been doing an excellent job with the D-Line. We are getting more from them than I think anyone had imagined possible.

    Re: Yancy McKnight

Hopefully Wally can share as much of his knowledge with this staff as he can, cause he is working magic out there.

I'd like to call the call in show and ask CPR about Yancy and the progress made. But I'm not over 65 years old and I would have had to start drinking about 4 hours ago to call in.

This is where I hope that when Wally retires Shane will take it over with Wally mentoring. Could be a legacy of awesome swinging our way.

Better chance of Ash being our DC once Wally hangs up the headset.

exactly what i was thinking ... but having shane around doesn't hurt one bit ... makes my wonder why levitt wouldn't bring him on ... thinking we got a steal ... not to mention his success in recruiting we've been seeing ...

    Re: Yancy McKnight

I still think the D Line coaches are average.... They could be worse but they really haven't done much for me. I think Wally has done a heckuva job tho and I agree, I would like to see Ash stick around and take over the Defense someday.

Don't forget Shane was the one that brought up the punt block against Baylor.
