    WOW...Finally, a glimmer of hope!

Thank you Paul Rhoads and the ISU Cyclone FB team!

It has been quite a while since ISU athletics has had any really positive news coming from the field of play in the two major sports. Success in VB, WBB, Wrestling, etc. is nice but, let's face it, we need to see success in FB and MBB.

Thank you Paul Rhoads and the ISU Cyclone FB team!

I freely admit that I was skeptical of the Rhoads hire. Frankly, I wanted us to make a big splash with our hire. I thought some of the supporting arguments for his hire were weak..."he is one of us", "he wants to be here", "he isn't using ISU as a stepping stone"...heck, ISU could hire me as head FB coach and you could say all those things but that would not make me a good hire as head FB coach. Despite my skepticism, I, like all Cyclone fans, hoped that Rhoads would work out in a big way. We have seen some signs under Rhoads that he may be able to make it happen at ISU and Saturday's win in Lincoln was certainly some very solid evidence.

Thank you Paul Rhoads and the ISU Cyclone FB team!

I watched the game via the Big 12 No Huddle broadcast and saw the highlights before that. I'm sure that NU fans will claim their team gave the game away. From what I saw, it looked like ISU took the game away. I especially liked how ISU played hard from whistle to whistle and never gave up on any play. The play where LJ dove to trip up the NU player heading for a sure TD and then Smith being there to recover the ball in the endzone...that is never say die stuff.

Thank you Paul Rhoads and the ISU Cyclone FB team!

The joy and unbridled emotion of the players, and especially coach Rhoads after the game as they interacted with the ISU cheering section literally gave me goosebumps. 1977 is a long time ago...heck, a lot of you on this site were probably not alive the last time ISU beat NU in Lincoln.

Thank you Paul Rhoads and the ISU Cyclone FB team!

Make no mistake, ISU has a lot of work to do as a FB team and lifetime coaching contracts are not in order at this point. The beauty is that, as happy as he is, Paul Rhoads appears to know this more keenly than any of us may. He appears to be a man that understands that now is not the time to sit back, relax, take a deep breath, and reflect on a recent success...now is the time to pick your lunch bucket up and get back to work on moving ISU FB ahead.

Thank you Paul Rhoads and the ISU Cyclone FB team!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

This is the kind of stuff legends are made of.... Think about it.

Great post, Num1 from the beginning all the way through the signature

I echo your thoughts, I wasn't necessarily overly enthused with the Rhodes hire, but there is definitely some hope right now. That is more than we've been able to say for quite some time.
