NO MORE DISSING TAYLOR, IT'S GETTING BORING/ANNOYING

Mike is tryin his best out there and he maybe turnover prone, but it seems he is the scapegoat after every game...this is a team game, the Cyclones lost this game, not the Mike Taylors...

Instead of pointing out a player's mistakes, why don't you point out someone who has been thriving...

I am sorry about ever thinking Jiri Hubalek would just be a "meh" role player type of person and that everything would need to be left up to our guards...How AWESOME has his improvement been? A hard working offseason and some added muscle and he could be a TOP TIER big 12 player and maybe just get into the professional basketball ranks. Mad props to Jiri Hubalek! Czech him out! (ok, that was dumb.) But keep your heads up Cyclones and let's try and win that big 12 tourney!

Mike Taylor is our best player, period. Give him some supporting players, and everyone's opinion would change.

I'm glad he plays for us, and if our season ends next week, i'm looking forward to what he'll do with the upgraded talent of next year.

Umm, I think I give Wesley Johnson the best player award. Mikes not bad however.

Ok, you knew that was a horrible pun, yet you left it in? Actually, I thought Taylor had one of his best games tonight. I don't really even remember saying "what was that for Mike?" He did a good job for the most part, of dishing the ball when someone with the better shot was open. As I stated in another post, I think this was a 40-minute game, the first of the season. Our guys didn't get tired, and we lost by 2 points. I really enjoyed this game, and we were only about 1-2 seconds away from seeing some Hilton Magic tonight.

A guy who leads the nation in turnovers (by a wide margin) is our best player? A guy who shoots 36% is our best player? Guess i will have to disagree with you there. I am not even sure if Taylor is our best guard.

If Mike Taylor is ISU's best player, there are major issues in Ames. 2008-2009 is the season we will know for sure if McDermott is the coach.

Re: NO MORE DISSING TAYLOR, IT'S GETTING BORING/ANNOYING

Could it be that our "go to guy", Mike Taylor, just doesn't have the skills or size to get the job done? Jarrius Jackson, Acie Law, Drew Neitzil, and even Adam Haluska come to mind. Mike plays his heart out, and wants the ball but 7 turnovers and 5 points, 30 games into his jr. year should tell you something about he overall ability.

Re: NO MORE DISSING TAYLOR, IT'S GETTING BORING/ANNOYING

If next year Mike can be just one of the guys he'll do fine. Most of the time it feels like he tries to do everything himself. But last night he did an awesome job of dishing out the ball to teamates especially Jiri. He was careless with the ball accaisonally, shot poorly, and made a mental mistake on that last play but give him a break. He's had to carry us in numerous games this year.

Re: NO MORE DISSING TAYLOR, IT'S GETTING BORING/ANNOYING

The less Mike "needs to be Mike" the better our team is getting. Yesterday really showed the growth of the team.

Mike's turnovers. A big problem, but I've grown accustomed to them, as have many of his defenders obviously. But if he wasn't handling the ball so often the problem would be far smaller. He still has flashes where he doesn't trust his teammates to score - but last nights passes to Jiri and Cory while faking the shot was a really positive turn. Hopefully next year Mike is a catch and shoot/drive off guard and our shot clock option.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. The guys sitting behind me kept b!tching about MT when he had the ball, and he really only went reckless 2-3 times. I thought he played the best team ball all year last night. If we keep playing like we have the last two, we could pull some upsets in the Big 12 tourney, hopefully.

Also, we need to remember that Texas Tech is a very SOLID ball club. They play as well on the road as they do at home. In December we would have lost that game by 25+.

Thank you, somebody else gets it. I don't know if people remember or not, but we had games where Mike was the only person that even thought about being aggressive offensively.

He was a two playing out of position all year, and for the most part I think that he did an admirable job. Was he perfect, of course not. Did he get exposed during the Kansas game, absolutly. But he tried, and kept trying in a very difficult situation, and he did it while receiving scorn from many Iowa State fans. Does anyone realize how easy it was to scout Iowa State this year, slow Taylor down, and they don't score.

If, and it is a big if, our point guard position is even solid next year, and Mike can play his natural position, I think the he will be an all-conference type player.

Re: NO MORE DISSING TAYLOR, IT'S GETTING BORING/ANNOYING

Mike Taylor had an off game on Saturday night, that probably hurt us the most. We greatly rely on him to score and he was struggling not get good shots and make them. For those that think he is a bad player is wrong. Remember he won the game for us at Minnesota. If Diante Garret can come in and be a decent distributor of the basketball, Taylor will be a deadly scorer. Even when he is not running the point, Taylor runs this team.

Even though the loss was tough the other night, I would like to say that Jiri Hubalek is the most improved and possibly the best player on our team. Fans and coaches alike criticized Hubalek's lack of inside play and toughness. Jiri has woked hard this year and is now a decent post scorer and an improved defender under the teaching of G-Mac. Thanks Jiri.
