I wonder what the tailgating is like at BYU. Tons of milk and pop I bet.

    Re: college game day

Quick Question about BYU---totally off topic but is it fair that most of their players get to go off and do their "missions" before starting their playing careers. It just seems to me that its extra time to mature physically since you generally peak at 24/25...I'll hang up and listen to your answer...

    Caffeine-free pop.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

Does anyone really watch gameday anymore? Its becoming such a joke.

That being said can BYU students even watch TV or is considered a stimulant?

I believe that any player can go off and do a mission before starting their playing career. Actually, I think that you can do this even after you start. Just basically counts as an addition redshirt.

Missions can be done at any time. There was some talk of Moeaki going on a mission before going to Iowa City.

BYU has two loopholes that they take advantage of:

    1. They 'direct' football players to missions where they have plenty of time for training & conditioning which means their players get effectively 2 extra redshirt years to be used as needed.

    2. They recruit 'marginal' or 'project' players to Mormon colleges other than BYU...which not coincidentally run the same offense and defense as BYU. Those that develop into legitimate D1 players transfer to BYU, those that don't, do not...at least not as football players. This effectively gives them a lot more than 25 scholarships/year.
