    Is Cygarin still in business?

After reading Sean Keeler's blog about rating the "Big 23 " teams (see link below) I was wondering if Cygarin was still around. I always enjoyed his statistical analysis fo the Big 10 and Big XII teams. By the way Keeler is now predicting 2 Big 10 and only 1 Big XII teams in BCS. Huh?!?

Well it grabbed your attention and now your handing it off to more potential readers, so I would say he is doing his job. Even if I don't like him.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

I will assume Keeler is predicting Iowa to win out or have only 1 loss and go to the Rose Bowl and that Penn State will be either 11-1 or 10-2. Who do you think the second team from the Big 12 would be over Penn State? The way I look at it only Texas Tech has a realistic shot.

I agree. I don't see the Big XII getting more than one team into the BCS this year.

Cygarian is posting on CR. Not sure if he's back here much.

Re: Is Cygarin still in business?

A one loss Texas would get into the BCS, and assuming that one loss was in the Big 12 championship game you could get two in. That is unlikely however.

I see the 10 BCS bids as:

    6 conference winners
    1 at large from SEC
1 at large non BCS (Boise State)

This leaves two more spots. A one or two loss USC or Oregon has a pretty good shot, especially if USC is the two loss team. A one loss Penn State or Iowa has a good shot. Notre Dame has an outside shot (I don't like it either, but they do). Right now, I could see 2 ACC teams getting in between Va Tech, Ga Tech and Miami. In terms of likelyhood, I would rank them 1. Pac Ten, 2. Big Ten, 3. ACC 4. ND. Obviously there is a lot of football to play yet.

The Big East is a one big league, the Big 12 probably is also (other than the upset scenario mentioned above). Finally, I don't think the BCS is required to take more than one non BCS team no matter how high they are ranked, so TCU would be out if they keep winning and Boise does too.

Bottom line, Keeler is right. Unless there is an upset in the Big12 title game, the Big 10 is more likely to have two BCS teams than the Big 12.

keeler is a tool. however if he's correct, it could be nice to see the big11 go 0-fer in bowl season with two BCS no shows.

What I'm looking for is the weekly Excel sheet he puts together that ranks the Big 10 + Big XII together.

He's a tool because he's saying what everyone knows would be true if his scenario played out?

So long as Iowa only loses 1 game, they'll be BCS bound. If it's to tOSU and OSU wins out...tOSU to Rose Bowl, Iowa to Sugar Bowl most likely.

Who else is going to go to a BCS bowl from the Big 12? The only scenario I see is Texas winning until the B12 title game and losing, giving them an at large.
