Who do you have your home and auto insurance with?

I had State Farm for a long time, and didn't have any problems with them with a couple of claims on auto. Have Nationwide now and haven't had any claims, so no idea on how they handle everything.

Who do you have and what have your experiences been? I'm doing a little shopping around. :)

Wadena. They're part of IMT, but cheaper.

Re: Who do you have your home and auto insurance with?

I had AAA for a while because we got a discount for being a AAA member (my father in law gets it for me every year for my birthday) and had great experiences with them. Long story short we're no longer with them but are with West Bend now but I could see us going back to AAA.

I got hit by somebody in my car last year and they had State Farm and they were great to work with.

Re: Who do you have your home and auto insurance with?

for our car insurance we've had Progressive for about 5 years and they've been great. just 2 weeks ago my wife was in a car accident, we had a check 2 days later. It was her fault but because we had been with them for a while we had accident forgiveness. So out premium won't go up due to the accident. of course i won't know for sure for 6 months hehe.

Shelter for Home, Progressive for Auto (used to be Shelter here too, but couldn't justify the price)

Re: Who do you have your home and auto insurance with?

GEICO for auto and State Farm for house. I am thinking about switching to GEICO for home as well. Its a tad bit cheaper.

Nationwide for home and auto. They are the best. My agent is probably the coolest person I have ever met. He is a huge Cyclone fan. Oh yeah did I mention I am the agent.

Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Re: Who do you have your home and auto insurance with?

Your best bet is to go to an independent insurance agent (not State Farm, Shelter, Geico) who can quote your insurance with several different companies. State Farm and Geico tend to be higher a lot of times due to the money spent on advertising spots on TV.

I call bs on Geico. They have very few office locations which keeps the prices very low and competitive. You can go on their website and get a quote in minutes. State Farm tends to be high, ill give you that one.

Re: Who do you have your home and auto insurance with?

The key is go to an agent you trust. If there is ever a problem with a claim you want to make sure your agent has your back and is looking out for your best interest. The GEICOs of the world are OK for pricing but would be the first to stab you in the back on a claim because there is no direct relationship with the insured.

The 2 largest property and casualty writers in the state are State Farm and Nationwide (Allied). Since they are the largest in premium their swings are less volitile then the others (law of large numbers). Plus they are staffed very well in the state from a claims standpoint.

But again, go to an agent you trust first.... if you do not know one, call a friend who may. i would not recommend getting your insurance off the internet. That is when problems start to arise

Liberty Mutual for home and auto.

Can't complain, but never had to use them. Friend of mine has them as well and filed a claim for water damage to his house and he said they were great.
