Try not to die from swine flu or get murdered by drug gangs. That is my personal suggestion.

When you get back, post on how you liked it compared to Jamaica. I would love to hear from someone that has seen both places.

I can recommend Cabo San Lucas as being a great place to visit as a couple's vacation or a really fun party weekend for the guys. If I am going to Mexico, that is where I go.

But please, let us know how it is. Quite curious myself.

I'm probably in greater danger of Swine Flu at work right now as everyone's kids seem to have it...

    Re: Puerta Vallarta

Don't eat any hot dogs regardless of how good they look.... trust me. We stayed at La Jolla de Mismaloya which is south of the city a ways. I would be sure to check out the downtown area. Don't be afraid to barter as much as you can... you can get some cool stuff for virtually nothing.

We ate here: Tino's Puerto Vallarta and it was without a doubt the best seafood I have ever eaten.

We took a little skiff out from our hotel beach and fished about a mile from shore. I caught a couple really nice mackerel.

If you want to know anything else feel free to PM me... I've been there twice and had a great time both times... other than that damn hot dog.

This is highly overblown in my opinion. As long as you stay in areas where tourists should go you won't have a problem at all. You'd have an equal experience getting mugged in LA or NYC. The key is to know where you're going.

There haven't been any kidnappings of tourists in Puerta Vallarta. I beleive there has been one killing and that was by a friend of his (so called friend I guess). Most of the bad stuff is in Mexico City and the border towns.

    Re: Puerta Vallarta

I went to Playa last year and was very surprised that I LOVED just staying at the resort. Some of my friends did a day trip to a pyramid, but I wasn't interested and stayed on the beach all day.

Agreed. My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and it was amazing.

Well other than having to spend time with the wife.

    Re: Puerta Vallarta

Eat late night at the street vendors. Had a blast doing that.

Zip lining is also a lot of fun. Can't remember where we went for that, but ask around and get some recommendations.

You should be prepared to interact with all sexual orientations. PV is a very diverse vacation destination.
