    Bowl Possibilities

So Bruce Feldman from ESPN has us projected to go to the Texas Bowl as he did previously, which means we have to win two more games. Like everyone else, I'm thinking one of those has to be Colorado at home. But what about the next one? After this weekend I'm thinking maybe A&M on the road or possibly Mizzou, but in reality I don't know if we can pull that off. Thoughts?

    Re: Bowl Possibilities

I think it could be any game, with the exception of Nebraska. I don't see us winning this week. If someone told me we would win two more games this year, I would say it was A&M and Colorado. But my guess is, we get one more win. Which is one more than I predicted prior to the season. I think it's Colorado, but they're playing a heckuva lot better lately.

    Re: Bowl Possibilities

I would say we have a decent chance to win in all those games, The problem is we also have a decent chance to lose in all those games. I think its a stretch to say we win 2 more games without a healthy AROB. I think we are also 6-1 right now if he is healthy which he is not so there ya go.

I agree. We might be favored at home against CU, but will likely be underdogs in all of our remaining games. So we need to beat CU and get an upset some where.

The good news is that I don't count us out of any of our remaining games. But I agree that an upset on the road in Lincoln is probably my least likely scenario. That is not because I don't think we aren't capable of playing with NU, but with ARob and AA dinged up, and NU severely mad about losing at home last week -- it will be a shocker. We will need to be +2 in TO and ARob will have to be servicable.

I think OSU at home (just because it is at home) and A&M on the road are the better chances.

    Re: Bowl Possibilities

Okie State is also a trap game. The week before they play Texas, and the week after they play Tech. And it's in Ames, in November. We could have a shot to pull off the upset, provided we can maintain our momentum.

I think we can be competitive in every game for the remainder of the year, but we'll need a healthy AA/A-Rrob duo to do it.

    Re: Bowl Possibilities

ALSO: 6 Wins might not get us anything this year since OU is down and out. We really needed 2 Big 12 Teams in the BCS this year. That aint going to happen unless Texas Wins out and loses to the North in the Championship game.

We know that these 6 teams are going to go ahead of ISU in the process because they are going to have better records. (unless ISU wins out:)
    Texas
    OSU
    KU
    NU
    Texas Tech
    OU

    Following is the selection order:
    1 BCS - Fiesta - --------texas
    2 Cotton ---------------OSU
    3 Holiday ----------------NU
    4 Alamo -----------------Texas Tech
    5 Sun ---------------------KU
    6 Insight -------------------OU
    7 Independence ------------??
    8 Texas --------------------???

So the way I see it is out of Mizzou, K-State, ISU battling for the last 2 "Gaurenteed" Spots" That is why I really wanted OU in the BCS hunt. Then we get 9 teams in. OR if we could have pulled out those 1st 2 games then we would be talking about the Holiday or Alamo right now @ 6-1.

I know this is a pipe dream, but I really hope we can pull wins @ A&M, OSU and CU.

I writing off, Bayor, A&M and CU. CU has dug to deep of a hole.
I really think Mizzou only wins 1-2 more also.

    Re: Bowl Possibilities

I am not getting my hopes up for any bowl...as Cyclone fans haven't we learned from past experience about getting our hopes up? I know...we have a new regime and I am very satisfied with our programs development to this point. I just want to avoid that feeling of getting kicked in the you-know-whats if something bad/crazy happens to our football program in the last few weeks of the season! It has happened to us way too many times...

Well said, but you have to admit, it is fun looking ahead to some meaningful games for a change. This is what it's all about in my opinion.

Our best shot IMO is @Tex AM. If we can get that game we should be in alright shape. But once again...if.

Totally agree! Love the fact that we aren't looking forward to the end of the season because it is the end of the season and we can focus our energy on basketball! Games in late Oct/early Nov that matter...great stuff!

This is so true......how much you bet we will be staring at 5-6 going into a Game at Mizzou? I couldn't see anything going bad with that scenerio.
