    Mahoney

Something seems to be wrong this year, he's really been struggling as of late... went 1/4 on field goal attempts last night. How much longer before we start seeing some action from Guyer?

    Re: Mahoney

There was a Mahoney that played tight end for ISU in the late '80s. I wonder if they are related?

Ever since he had that blocked extra point, he hasn't been right.

    Re: Mahoney

I would alternate the two against NU and future games until one of them separates himself from the pack. Mizzou took this approach when their kicker (Crossett) was struggling in 2006 and found themselves a dominant kicker (Wolfert) for the next three years.

    Re: Mahoney

I think Walters brought up a valid possibility last night on the call-in show. Does Mahoney have a "dead leg" since his kicks have been getting shorter and shorter as the year has gone on?

    Re: Mahoney

Leave in Mahoney. 3 weeks ago we thought this kid was one of the best kickers in the country. All of a sudden he he is off and his confidence is down.

He will get his confidence back and he will be hitting 50 yarders again. No worries

But can Guyer kick it to the end line? Is he accurate in practice? It would be hard to make that switch if that's the case.

    Re: Mahoney

Mahoney has become a head case. Bench him and he's done. Think he looks bad when he is nervous that he might miss? Think how bad he'll be when he is also nervous about being benched.

honestly i think the cold is gettin in his head and hes trying to hard.. i think grant will be fine

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Re: Mahoney

All of this talk of "confidence" is ridiculous.

At what point do the Iowa State homers admit the kid might just be not good instead of making excuses for how a blocked PAT is "in his head"?

An above-average to good kicker does not miss the chip-shots this kid does nor does he miss (or have blocked) that many extra points.

    Re: Mahoney

He has the distance, thats not the issue, but mahoney needs to sharpen his accuracy. I really hope we can give Guyer a look to see what he can do.

I don't know what the answer is, but I do now that people need to stop booing the kid...that is hawk bs.
