    Bill Bleil deserves some credit.....

I have really been pleased with our offensive line and running game. We are leading the Big 12 in rushing and Arob is a big part of that too, but it starts with the oline. His first year at ISU has been really promising to say the least. Great job coach and keep up the good work.

If we can sustain our lead in conference rushing that could only help recruiting some top backs to Ames.

Indeed, Bliel deserves a lot of credit. He's done a great with the running game as well as in pass protection.

Its amazing how much better he is than our previous "best offensive line coach in the country".

My favorite part about this is that Bleil was one of the few "head-scratchers" during the assistant hiring process. I believe he was the first person Rhoads brought onto the staff, since they went way back. Great job to both Bleil and Rhoads!

Agree. It's hard to argue with an O-line that produces the #1 rushing offense in the conference AND has given up something like 2 sacks all year long.

And the best part is that most of them return next year... minus Stephens.

This seems to be a good hire from the good ol boy network, unlike others we may have had. If this team goes bowling, it will be in large part to his work. Regardless, if we have a 1,000 yard rusher again in the regular season it will be a job well done at a school that has lacked that recently.

I think some credit also goes to the new strength coach that really worked on explosiveness rather than strength. These guys are much better this year because they are moving better.

Agreed, considering how big they are...The Bugeaters will be a really good test as to where we are. Their front 4/7 are pretty tough.

Me too. I will step up and admit when I was wrong. I thought OL was too important to trust to Bleil, and thought he was one of CPR's weaker choices. Couldn't have been more wrong, and am happy to admit it. He has done an outstanding job. OL is definitely a strength.

and a good offense starts w/ a good line, but we need an accurate throwing QB. Atleast Bleil helped us w/ the first part.

Re: Bill Bleil deserves some credit.....

this thread has nothing to do with Austen except for the fact he's doing a great job running the football and is our second leading rusher. In fact, at this pace Arob and Austen have a realistic chance at rushing for more than 1,000 yards each. I would say thats pretty impressive. Again, great job coach!

sacks are a little misleading imo. seems arnaud is hurried a lot, and is forced to make too many plays with his feet.

Re: Bill Bleil deserves some credit.....

Coach Herman recently commented that Arnaud exhibited a tendancy to take the ball down and run too quickly instead of waiting for the play to develop earlier in the season and has recently amped down a little. So, the O-line's sack percentage is very legit imo. Simply put, the stats that show few sacks and excellent running game speak for themselves. Great job by Bleil.

We were all scratching our heads that day, but he really has turned out to be a fantastic hire. I'm really proud of the work he's doing.

And the S/C coach. Seems like he's made a big difference, too.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!
