    Pollard on Cydline show?

was reading a thread on CR about this, and how Jamie has really changed his tune when it comes to the South Endzone, assistant coaches salary competitiveness, etc. Anyone on CF hear this and want to offer an assessment? I live out of area so I didn't hear it, but I would be very disappointed if the project was shelved with no realistic hopes of moving forward in the next few years.

Could you please elaborate on his tune? Was it good, bad, was the south endzone a bad tone, but salary a good tone?

Like I said, i didn't hear it. A poster on CR was saying that Jamie is no longer optimistic about getting the south endzone done 'anytime soon', and just sounded down on the progress going forward in general. Cited economy, budget cuts, etc.

Those things are all true. When the state of Iowa is looking at a 10% across the board budget cut, it doesn't bode well for these kind of projects unless a bid donor steps up to the plate.

    Guaranteed if

this was U. of I., it would get done. Regardless of the economic conditions, won-loss ratio, etc, the regents would find a way to help. Either by standing aside or actively assisting. Has been this way since at least the 50s and no doubt before. ISU sports have always been a stepchild and up until 10 or 15 yrs ago were treated as such by the ISU administration & faculty. Not whining, just the facts.

    Re: Pollard on Cydline show?

Jamie said that we would need a donor with a 25 million dollar check plus a good economy to make it happen. He estimated the cost to be 60 million for a bowl in. He also said that 11000 season tickets were all that were sold this year and the rest of the tickets are mini paks and assorted packages. He also said that without the KC trip season tickets would have been $430 and $140 min Paks just to get the same dollars. He is happy with attendance but donations must be way down.

PR wise it may be best to put a temporary hold on the discussion anyways. Even though itd be almost entirely privately funded with no state funding, you can bet the register would find a way to make a big deal over the fact that the state is cutting funding while we're spending millions on stadium improvements.

He also mentioned moving the track and softball field over by towers... I thought the plan was to have those over off University.

    Re: Pollard on Cydline show?

I look at it this way, there are three people in my family. My wife and I share a room and my six year old sleeps in one. I have an extra bedroom now. What we are wanting, as ISU fans, is a fourth and fifth bedroom added on even though we don't use what we have, or at least a fourth just so it looked better.

I know it would be nice to do, but get real.

Wow. Are we sure this is correct? We sold nearly 37,000 season tickets just 2 years ago. It is very hard to imagine we have lost 25,000 season ticket holders in a year. Was the 11,000 a reference to the Arrowhead game?

Wow, 11,000 season tickets sold is hard to believe - if there were only that many why couldn't I get moved from sec 4 to section 5 like I requested? Anyway, the 11,000 number is just amazing - anyone know when the last time we had so few season tickets sold?

11000 season tickets??? That a HUGE drop from just 2 years ago. I highly doubt that is the actual number.

That seems like a pretty fair analogy of the south end zone problem.
I would like to hear something positive about the assistant coaches salary competitiveness issue.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Wow... If that's not a typo, that is horrible. We sold 36k just two years ago. 70% reduction in our season ticket sales over two years. Wow.

I guess the $800K from Kansas City looks like a great deal now, as we may have made money even after losing the home game.
