    I'll say it

There are three players that I've been really hard on this year - Taylor, McIntosh, and Marsden, and all of those guys played key roles in the win yesterday. If McIntosh can continue playing the way he is then I think he'll continue to start next season. He does a great job running the team when he looks for his shot a little more because his defenders don't sag off of him.

If you would have told me before the game that Jiri was going to be an absolute non-factor and we'd still win I never thought I'd see it happen. That's a real credit to a lot of players that maybe played their best game of the year. That's how a team comes together after a tough loss and really makes the fans proud. Good job team!

Agree completely! Great effort by the Cyclones last night.

    1. The season is ending way to soon for Corey McIntosh.
    2. Marsden is starting to look physically like he belongs in the Big 12. I hope for good things out of him next year. As Greg said on the post game, he's about the only one we put out there who does what he's supposed to do all the time.

    And I'll say this

Marsden, really? Everyone in the gym and watching on TV knew that once Maric got the ball he would turn to his right for an easy shot, yet Marsden repeatedly allowed him to do that. Either the coaches didn't see this (which I highly doubt), or Ross couldn't figure that out. It's not rocket science, Maric turning right = 2 points (and maybe a foul), Maric turning to his left = poor shot.

I agree mj, to a certain extent. Both he and Jiri were getting pretty solidly abused out there, but Jiri was completely owned by Maric. Ross at least made him try.

    Re: I'll say it

Maybe Marsden is finally getting over the mono and is getting physically closer to 100%.

He has a nice little jump shot away from the basket too.

    Re: I'll say it

Some of the key plays down the stretch were when Marsden actually made Maric shoot over him. If you're not strong enough to get around him and front him, then you might as well stay behind him, let him have the ball and force him to make a shot over you. Hubalek allowed Maric to get too many easy shots; Marsden made the shots a little tougher.

    Re: I'll say it

I'd say Marsden did VERY well against Maric. If you read coach Mac's comments about letting Maric get his but to defense the hell out of the other players and then realize that Maric only shot 50% from the field when 90% of this shots came from 5 ft or closer. And I bet Maric shot 75%+ against Jiri so IMO Ross did more than an adequate job.

    Hats off to Ross.

    Re: I'll say it

During the last 6-8 minutes?, (after Hubalek got his 4th foul) Marsden did the best job of defending he has done all season. Nobody really stops Maric, but he was something like 2-6 during this time. Marsden just doesn't look like the same player he was last season. He doesn't seem to have any confidence in his shot. If you look at his shoulder/ upper arm development, it isn't there. He looks like he has spent about 30 seconds in the weight room in the last two years. Maybe he just doesn't have the muscle structure to become the next Charles Atlas. But he still does a better job of squeezing the rebound and holding onto a pass than Hubalek.

Maybe it's because he has mono.

    Re: I'll say it

I'll eat some crow after saying some negative things about coreymc and taylor recently. They stepped it up and produced last night. Congrats guys and keep proving guys like me wrong.
I've been a closet fan of marsden since last year when he seemed to be the only one who could hit a nice 10-12 jumper last year. He could be a very effective role player.

    [quote=Oldgeezer;95264Nobody really stops Maric [/quote]

That's the key. It's not that nobody can stop him, yet it's very rare. About all you can do is attempt to slow him down and play solid defense against the rest of the guys.

Corey did a very nice job defending his man as did the rest of the Cyclones.

I think we gotta give some credit to Clark in this thread too. He had a couple key rebounds as well as a nice putback in traffic. 2 of his rebounds were absolute high-flying acrobatic moves.

Jiri seems to be in a funk lately on both ends of the court and I see the frustration coming from him. Teams are playing him different and he's not adjusting to that well. I hope he can shake it.

Once Maric gets the ball with both feet in the paint, it's basically over. He's going to do as he pleases. I thought Ross at least made him compete.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he hasn't had mono for 2 years has he? Do your shoulers fall off when you get mono?

    Correction.

He had mono this season, he missed a few games and has slowly been getting back in the mix.
