Could ST. Louis Rams go back to LA?

There's a bunch of technical stuff in the Rams' lease here, but cutting through it all, if the city doesn't provide the Rams with essentially a new stadium plan by March 2015 to match the likes of palaces in New York and Dallas, the Rams will be free to move. ... As one Rams official put it, "Five years from now we might be back in L.A. Just imagine that."

If Limbaugh is successful in his bid to buy the team, there's no way they leave St. Louis. Rush's partner owns the Blues and Rush is a Missouri guy.

Doesn't sound like that is going to happen either . . .

They might be able to do the deal sans Limbaugh though . . .

Re: Could ST. Louis Rams go back to LA?

Rush won't buy them. Jacksonville will be the team in LA if there is one. Even when they had been decent, they don't get anyone there. I don't know what the Rams attendance is like but they have been terrible lately so I don't know how you analyze their fan base. The fact is that Jacksonville is right in the middle of college football heaven and that is what matters down there for the most part. If you look at NFL teams, most prolific ones are not around a college football base. That is why I don't even know if LA is a viable city to have an NFL team. If you look at the Northeast, college football is not dominant, the NFL is. The Cowboys may be a exception, however they live in a very large state so I would say they are more of an outlier. There aren't a lot of consistently good, high revenue football teams in the Southwest for a reason and college football is that reason.

LA may not be a sports town like Boston or Philly, but isn't it considered a pro town?

The NFL would most definitely succeed in LA.

The Florida Gators should just play in Jacksonville....except the Gator players wouldn't like the pay cut.

    Old joke.
Has there been a thread on Bo Pelini smacking his cud like a freaking cow on steriods yet? almost more annoying than the Callahan jaw stretch. What is it with the freak Nebraska coaches? Must be embarassing. I hate NU football.

Re: Could ST. Louis Rams go back to LA?

The NFL owners aren't gonna let a new kid on the block get the LA franchise, its just too valuable. They may do something like what MLB did with the Nationals, not letting the new owner move the team and make himself lots of money.

The three current California teams are among the least-valued/lowest-appraised because the stadiums all stink.

Re: Could ST. Louis Rams go back to LA?

Just read a comical take on and interesting read on the two former LA teams...that mentions the chance that the Rams move back to LA:

with USC and UCLA in LA, a struggling NFL franchise is already the 3rd choice.

I don't care as long as the Vikings stay in Minnesota.
