Big 12 rankings at the halfway pole

it sucks that the season is half over. That said, here's how I rank the Big 12:

    1. Texas (I had Texas winning the Big 12 over the summer and OU's woes is making that pick look pretty good)
    2. Nebraska (a few seconds away from a national top 10 ranking)
    3. Kansas (lots of questions on defense, espcially after ISU put up over 500 yards this past Saturday, but boy the offense is looking good as KU moves into their tough conference schedule; they are neck and neck with Iowa as being the nation's most questionable undefeated team)
    4. Oklahoma (With Bradford back and the O-line should improve as the season goes on, with 2 losses already, their MNC dreams as well as a BCS bowl are all but over)
    5. Oklahoma St. (still want to see what this team does without Dez in a big game)
    6. Texas Tech (With Sheffield's performance Saturday, it proves that it's the system that makes TT dangerous on offense)
    7. Missouri (questionable run defense all year and what is the status of Gabbert's ankle)
    8. Iowa St. (decent run game and a few points away from being 5-1)
    9. Baylor (now that conference play is here and Griffin is out, look for Baylor to further slide down in my rankings)
    10. Texas A&M (still really don't know alot about this team, but if the last 2 games are an indication, that seat is going to get hot for Sherman)
    11. Kansas St. (knocking on CU's door as the worst team in the Big 12)
    12. Colorado (No reasoning needed for last in my rankings. Seriously, more yards in penalties that total offensive yards this past Saturday?)

Kansas won't do anything against a team that can score and who also has a good defense (PASS RUSH!!!). They'll get crushed by NU and also lose to Mizzou. They won't finish close to third in the B12.

How can we rank ahead of KSU when we are 0-2 in the conference and lost to them?

we were without A-Rob that day, so you can make a case for it..... that would have been an entirely different game with him.

I definitely disagree with that one. KU's offense is good enough to keep them in almost any game. They do have a really tough schedule and their defense is the team's weakness, but I think they are deserving of their #15 (give or take) ranking.

Reesing gets rid of the ball so quickly that they are probably going to be able to negate some of any opposition's pass rush. If KU had our schedule, I think they'd win the North.

Re: Big 12 rankings at the halfway pole

    1. Texas (no doubt)
    2. Nebraska (when I saw the OP rankings I almost lost my breakfast, but the more I think about it the more I think he may be right, with Ok struggling)
    3. Oklahoma (They might be down, but I still think they are the second best team in the south)
    4. Oklahoma State (a good but susceptible team, very inconsistent)
    5. Texas Tech (Not sure why so many are down on Tech, their losses are to really good teams and they have taken care of business in the other games)
    6. Kansas (They may go down as the season moves on, but right now I think they can beat Missouri who offense is in question)
    7. Missouri (a beatable team, has a inconsistent offense with an okay defense)
    8. Iowa State (a emerging offense, but a very shaky pass defense and no QB rush)
    9. Texas A&M (they may be better than ISU but it is very close either way, they had a humiliating lose to Arkansas who appears to be much better than many thought and a close lose to OSU)
    10. Baylor (sorry Baylor, without Griffin you're not doing anything)
    11. Colorado (I know, I know, but just look at their past few games. Offensively Texas only out scored them by a field goal last week, they played well against a good West Virginia team, and they shut out a Wyoming team that is currently in the lead for the MWC, I think they will get two more wins yet)
    12. Kansas State (watching them last week against Tech made last weeks lost even more embarrassing)

KU will win the north. They will have no problem with Neb and Mizz.

Re: Big 12 rankings at the halfway pole

I assume this is power rankings, if so:

    1. Texas - Weak #1 right now, but who else is better?
    2. Oklahoma - Most everyone healthy, they're still the 2nd best team in the conference, even with 2 and soon to be 3 losses.
    3. Nebraska - Pretty much one blown coverage away from being undefeated and in the top 10
    4. Kansas - Amazing offense, very average defense.
5.(Tie) Oklahoma St. - No Dez, no problem? I don't think so. Still can put a lot of points on the board, but you can't lose an All-American and be better.
    5. (Tie) Texas Tech - Wow. Destroyed KSU. I know they have two loses, but these guys can play. Might be better than Nebraska or KU before the end of the year, and I'm not kidding about that.
    7. Missouri - Better than expected. Lost control in the 4th quarter against Nebraska, but still a good squad.
    8. Texas A&M - Still can't stop anyone on defense, but they are improved.
    9. (Tie) Kansas State - Beat us, without A-Rob, but it's still a win. The masacre against TTU makes them a tie with ISU right now though.
    9. (Tie) ISU - Could be 2-0 in conference, but we're not. Should be able to get in the win colum against a decent Baylor squad on Saturday.
    11. Baylor - Losing Griffin was devastating. No way to come back from that. If you put a healthy Griffin on this team, they probably are middle of the pack or slightly lower.
    12. Colorado - Heck of an effort at UT for a half, but then both teams remembered who they really were.

KSU gave up 700 plus yards to Iowa St and lost to a Louisiana team that Nebraska defeated 55-0.
