To all the Negative Nancy's out there

We went to a top 16 team and lost by 5 points, If I had told a majority of the people on this board that we would have the ball and have a chance to score to win the game in the end, they would have been happy, it is almost as though most of you would rather have us being beaten 70-7 like the old days. We are taking step towards a good football team. If we hit 5 wins this season like I think we can. Then I will be tickled pink. We need to calm down and we will get rewarded. I hope the ISU Men's Basketball team doesn't lose any close games to a GOOD team or this message board might implode

I didn't even read your post, I just like your handle. We should hang out. I bring out awkward turtle all the time. Also very close with inappropriate giraffe and shady palm tree.

5 games is what I predicted. And I will still be ok with that although it may be tough to swallow when we could have won more by the end of the season. But not only the home games but games coming up I feel more confident about. Baylor doesnt seem as bad. Colorado being 1-4 doesnt seem near as bad. Even the Oklahoma State game doesn't seem like as big of blow out as it did earlier. We win next week were 4-3. I'm ok with that.

Re: To all the Negative Nancy's out there

It's not necissarily the loss that sucks, it's how we lose that sucks. If you would have said we would lose by missing a frickin XP last week and lose by missing a wide open receiver in the endzone this week, no I wouldn't be satisfied with that. I don't know why anyone would be. These were winable games and when we lose winable games I am not satisfied at all.

The difference between us being decent and us being where we are today is learning to win these games, not being satisfied with just showing up and putting forth a good effort. I played sports my whole life including in college and I guarantee none of them are happy showing up, putting forth a good effort and losing so why should we be satisfied with it? Obviously we aren't going to win them all but damn, let's not act like it's okay to lose as long as we try hard. This isn't pop warner!

Re: To all the Negative Nancy's out there

Why are Iowa State fans so fond of finding fault with one another? I guess I am guilty of the same in this post...

    After a loss-
45% of Iowa State fans blame the team/coaches/AD etc.
45% try and find fault with the fans
That leaves 10% in other categories

Hooray for moral victories! And we had FUN too!

Seriously, I AM glad we didn't lose 70-7, but this "well we didn't win but at least we were close, gosh darn it!" crap is not cutting it anymore.

Youre missing the point. Noone is happy we lost, but we are showing improvement. Getting closer to that elusive W and doing it against very good teams. Have to be proud of that. The wins will come.

The wins will come as long as ISU continues to improve. Next week will be key, because if ISU can improve from this week they will win. Just no steps back.

I respectfully disagree with the statement that Kansas is a fraud. Their defense is not great, but their offense is extremely potent and by saying stupid things like they are a fraud you are only taking shots at our team. Maybe that is your intent

There was definitely improvement between the KSU and KU games. However, there was not much improvement between the Army and KSU games...perhaps there was even some regression. Some (or maybe most) of that was due to Robinson being hurt and the distractions going on during that week. That said, KSU is not good.

The Baylor game will be a barometer of where the team is. Which team will show up? The much improved one from yesterday, or the not so good one from two weeks ago? I'm hoping the program is to the point where the "good" team consistently shows up. If that is the case, there should be some more wins.

Are you not tired of loosing yet? Some people are driving 3-4+ hours each week to watch the cyclones they love, but every week they find another way to rip out your heart while it is still beating.

Excepting moral victories will not lead to real victories. A higher standard needs to be set.

Seriously, you think the standard hasnt been set by everyone involved? Beating a dead horse on here wont bring the wins. Moan all you want, but in the end all you can do is wait.

There is no doubt in my mind that they will still fall back at times the rest of the season. We just dont have the consistency yet. This will be cured with recruiting and experience. I like the progress Im seeing though. 1 penalty and no turnovers vs a ranked team, shows some growth.

I agree, because all of us keyboard coaches know all it takes to turn a team into an instant undefeated success is to find the damn switch.

    What a joke.
