    Re: High School football

I didn't realize that Urbandale's starting QB (and middle linebacker) was injured, or I wouldn't have gone to the game against Dowling tonight. It was 31-0 at halftime and Urbandale only had 3 first downs in the first half. We left at halftime.

Gilson had a pretty big wrap on his right hand.

I left the Ames game at the start of the 4th with the Bobcats up 53-28. What an aerial attack by Marshalltown!! They have a huge line that averages around 230-240 lbs.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Carroll ended beating Ballard 28-14. I tell you what, this was some of the worst officiating I have seen in a long time. These guys had no clue what was going on. Carroll got screwed more than once but was definitely the better team and deserved to win.

Awesome game between North Polk and Ballard but way too reminiscent of Saturday... It was 14-7 right away then no scoring till the 6 minute mark when Albia busted off an 80 yard TD. The North Polk QB then does his best John Elway and runs a perfect two minute drill for a TD. They get the ball back on the 20 with 1:19 and drive down with another perfect two minute drill and score a TD in the back of the end zone with :04 left... Then the extra point was blocked... Unebeleivable..

Ouch. The kicker for NP is like my little brother. That sucks! Could you tell if it was a bad kick or bad blocking?

It shocked me because all of his other kicks were super high and he was nailing 50 yarders in warmups... This one was really low but I'm also not sure the holder got it on the tee.

That quarterback is going to be good... Rob needs to cut him loose a little more next year. I think all but two of his incompletions were either spikes or drops.

Yeah hes mentioned a few times having issues with the holder. I guess he's been working with Jamie Kohl on his punting as Jamie thinks thats where he may have the best chance of playing in college. He's a really good kid that has had a rough childhood (cancer as a toddler). Be nice to see it work out for him. On a good note, his dream is to be a 'Clone!

His punting wasn't that great but he has a really strong leg as a kicker... He can definately kick somewhere, maybe even D1.

I'd like to see more high school kickers kick without the tee, especially if they want to move on to the next level.

Yeah its his first year punting so it kinda surprised me too. As I was not anywhere near the ability to be recruited, I dont know how it works. I have always wondered if he'll get a chance since he goes to such a small school and he's a kicker. I suppose he could always walk-on somewhere though.

Creek is a beast. I also froze my *** off at this game but it was worth it. Nick Thimesch (#20) is my cousin so I make it to quite a few of the Mtown games.

Too bad Creek is one of the biggest Iowa fans I can think of.

Owens ripped valley apart through the air. 395 passing yards and 4 TD's while battling an ankle injury. Valley got destroyed by him. I can only imagine if he was healthy and running well.
