    OT: Lost

    Anyone watch Lost?

The previews for tonight's episode are trying to convey that something big is going to happen tonight. (Maybe it's actually answering one of the 19,487 mysteries they have created)

    Some of the popular questions:
    1. Who are The Others and what is the Dharma Project?
    2. What's the deal with the island/button/magnetic field?
    3. What is the smoke monster? Why are their polar bears on the island?
    4. What is the significance of the numbers?
    5. Why are there whispers in the jungle?
    6. Why are all of the characters inter-connected?

And on and on and on.

Anyway, I love the show. Anyone else watch? Care to discuss any of it?

Best show on earth. My favorite ever. The writing and acting is phenominal. Are there really 19,487 mysteries?? I want to more about the others period. They fascinate me.

Excited for it. Just hope it isn't a fluff episode. Also, with respect to the polar bears, it would seem to me that they were caged on the other island at some point.

Right, I think they mentioned something about that's what the cages Sawyer and Kate were in were for. But WHY were there polar bears on the island is what I'm wondering...

    Re: OT: Lost

First of, thanks for starting a post on this. I know this is not sport related, but I like how we all can talk about other stuff on here too.

Here's what I think of the show Lost:
    1. Who are The Others and what is the Dharma Project?
    - I think the others are a group "trying to test their psycological theories in an abandoned island while staying away from the media and real world, they are the people unknown to the rest of the universe and they wouldn't let the survivors get away"

    2. What's the deal with the island/button/magnetic field?
    - It's very possible than the center of earth is that island and the magnetic force in that area would destroy the motion of objects flying over that island, hence something was done to it to restore a balance. Although I am not sure who is doing that any more or how things are being taken care of after the dome got destroyed.

    3. What is the smoke monster? Why are their polar bears on the island?
    - Excellent question, they have not revisited that in a long time. I think the smoke could be one of the very key element to the puzzle or maybe its just an imagination of the exhausted.

    4. What is the significance of the numbers?
    - I think the numbers somehow connects everyone of the group, and these group of people got picked and the plane was designed to crash so they all get in there. They have yet to put more emphasis on the numbers.

    5. Why are there whispers in the jungle?
    - Its a jungle, you will hear things if you are scared or emotional or even thinking normal but in pain and so on..

    6. Why are all of the characters inter-connected?
    - Like I said, I think the set of numbers connect them all, and the purpose to that is to bring everyone in this island.

This is a modern day drama with adventure and a very interesting story behind it. I hope they keep it that way though. Its hard for shows like this to exist beyond a few years, but I think this show will go for another couple years.

    Re: OT: Lost

Why the hell did the others make Sawyer and Kate crush rocks for awhile? Wouldn't everyone love to see what it'd be like for every character to interact off the island in some other setting?

    Re: OT: Lost

Lost is my favorite show of all time... I'm not a huge fan of the "others" and would like everyone to get back onto the main island... but I can't complain cuz I've loved every episode. For anybody who hasn't given LOST a chance... all I have to say is... watch the first two Episodes (The Pilot) and I guarantee you'll be hooked... you'll watch the first two seasons on DVD in about 2 weeks and then watch the episodes of season three online and be mad cuz you still want to know what happens next

    Great Show!

    Re: OT: Lost

the thing i am concerned about with this show is that if it loses viwers and gets cancelled in a year or so, there wont be any answers to some of the important questions we all have, because I dont think the writers have even written those answers yet.

And I am sick of them saying that each episode the next week answers questions, cant miss, etc. Because I have not felt that way. The first few that started up again in January felt like the old times....last week's not so much....too much time spent on the back stories, too.

    Re: OT: Lost

Oh... and the people thinking that they are testing other people from the "observation" hatch. They are supposed to document everything they see in the "button" hatch and then send it through the tube thing. Anyone remember seeing the end of the tube that just dumps the tube conatiners to the middle of nowhere and nobody reads the notes the people made.... crazy stuff! And is the smoke monster the thing that sounds like metal and plucked the pilot out of the plane in the Pilot Episode? WHo knows... maybe I'll find out tonight!

    Same here.

The episodes where he and Boone found the hatch were some of the best.

And I agree with dbronco, watch the 1st few episodes and you'll be hooked.

It's probably the only TV show of all-time that I would lie awake at night and think about.

Agreed Jon. However I think people are making the "huge ratings slide" thing too big of deal. Lost was still the 9th most watched show from Feb 12-18. I know they are declining but it's not as bad as some make it out to be. Survivor has been declining for years now and they still keep new ones coming...because it's still a top 10 show.

    Re: OT: Lost

Lost is great! I got the first two seasons on DVD for Christmas, and I've been keeping up with it ever since.

Everyone keeps asking why there are polar bears on the island -- they're just leftovers from Dharma's experimentations. Not that big of a mystery.

I don't really buy the commercials' hype, however. For last weeks episode, they say they answer three big mysteries. What did it answer? What Jack's Tatoos meant, why they kidnapped the kids in the beginning (sort of), and probably something else that I can't remember. Whatever.

I'm still looking forward to them getting back to the Losties back on the beach. I miss the 1st and 2nd season, and am getting quite tired of Alcatraz.

    Re: OT: Lost

Locke is by far the best although I admire Sawyer as well. Both are no BS guys, although I always prefer the Bald guy. Sympathy for those of us with Bald heads. I enjoy Kate as eye candy, and her inner struggle. I want more of the smoke monster and I wish that the leader of the others (Ben?) would die already, I would have put him out of his misery long ago!

FYI- they are doing 5 seasons and thats it. I just hope they are able to cram all of their issues into it without confusing us more.
