Re: Anybody use Facebook to promote their business?

We (Iowa Energy) use Facebook and Twitter to promote and market. It's a little different being a sports team than most businesses, but both help to get the word out on various things we are doing.

Whether it is an event we are going to, special ticket packages or just straight basketball news, it's fairly easy to use and obviously not expensive. It's hard to gauge whether or not the people that are receiving the message act on it, but their have been a few instances where someone calls up and says, "I heard about so and so on Facebook or Twitter."

So, long story short, it's been pretty effective for the Energy.

Feel free to follow us on Twitter and be our Facebook friend.

We use it to promote our athletic department. Coe College Athletics | Facebook

We are well over 500 members and hope to see it grow. Basically just use it as an extension of our website.

No but I am going to a seminar on November 6th on using Facebook , Twitter and other social networks to boost business. If I get any good info I will forward it to you. Seems logical to me. We increased our google rank and beefed up our website verbage and we are gaining more new customers each month.

You've already lost if you need a seminar on it.

Just giving you a bad time. This is something that we've looked at but not acted on yet as we're in a regulated industry - and the interactions in those spaces would be regulated in the same manner the website is. I've attending some things on using social networks in our industry and I don't feel that the compliance issues have been vetted enough yet to make it "safe" to use.

Social Marketing! I personally have stayed away from that particular channel, however, it's just not a good fit for me. I think it depends on your product and target market and your purpose... acquistion or retention. Yes social marketing is a hot topic these days, however, very infant and hard to track ROI in many cases. Use it as part of a multichannel marketing plan rather than a single course of action for overall best results....complimentary method.

As well, I would like to hear of any good or bad results using this medium.

I have an insurance agency and do the typical things such as chamber events and other social networks but was just looking for something else to increase exposure and remind people of what I do.

I know a lot of people get on facebook and I figured that I would see what most thing about it. Worth time or not.

cykid if you could let me know if you hear anything good that would be great! Thanks

Yes - Michael Libbie of Insight Marketing promotes his business and internet radio shows. He's a guru of social marketing. And, a great guy all around.
