I posted in a thread bout Lamur

About leverage to block that kick in the last seconds of the game.....NOW DSM Rag has a article in the paper concerning this....Why did the officials not call this..I saw it clear as day on the TV, and there was a ref behind the player....Damn now I sound like a Iowa fan....Sorry....but that should have been a re-kick. I feel like that when Seneca won the game against Florida State....but the refs decided to give the game to Florida State..Rhoads also blames the team for the loss not his coaching staff..

Thos are my only two complaints against officials ....since 1997 when it concerns Iowa State

Re: I posted in a thread bout Lamur

Seneca's TD (and he did score a TD) would have tied the game, assuming we made the PAT.

Also, the PAT saturday would have tied the game vs KSU.

It's hard to say we would have won either game givin our OT record.

Point Is - let it go, I still think we can (6) wins.

Re: I posted in a thread bout Lamur

Paul Rhoads came out and said that he didn't even send in for Big 12 officials to look at the play. He said it was perfectly legal.

He did say that he asked them to look at the PI call though

I also think Rhoads comment was to the fact of not blaming the refs for the loss it was the team that lost. I don't know the exact question but that's how I took it.

Probably the question was asked if he felt the ref's calls caused the loss.

I agree - LET IT GO!

No they asked PR if they send in tape of the game to Big 12 officials. He said that the officials already have tape but they do send them 4 to 8 plays a week to take a look at.

The next question was if he was going to send in on the PI. He said YES.

They then asked about the block PAT. He said no and gave his reason why

I commented on this in another thread too. I watch the replay today and the announcers even made a comment about him doing that. You can see his left hand using another players shoulder to push up.

Re: I posted in a thread bout Lamur

LIke I stated....only two complaints with officiating....Iowa Wildcat....thats not the picture I was refering to...follow the frame by frame of it .....He wsa three feet back and his hand was used on the other players back for pure momentum to lift himself higher. NCAA rule book states the following:

No defensive player in an attempt to block bat or catch a kick may:

    Rule part 2

    2. place a hand(s) on a teammate to gain leverage for additional height.

Re: I posted in a thread bout Lamur

Not only can the player not use another member of his team for leverage, but I believe the rulebook also states that a player jumping to block a kick cannot land on another player on his team either. Going to check on that though.

The unfortunate fact of the matter is that the officials rarely look for penalties like that to call. It could be argued that they should be looking a bit more intently for those types of infractions on pressure packed plays like that one. At the beginning of the game if a team scores a TD, they're definitely not paying much attention to the PAT. At a time like that in Saturday's game, they should be really scrutinizing it. Not saying its right or wrong to watch certain plays more closely at certain times in the game, but its just human nature. We see it happen in different situations, why not with this one?

Re: I posted in a thread bout Lamur

That picture shows Lamur blocking the kick with his right hand. His left hand is not in the picture, it is on a player's helmet (from the video replay). No.2 has both hands in the air, which is what you would expect if you were trying to block a kick without helping yourself up by pushing on another player's head.

Re: I posted in a thread bout Lamur

ISUalum2002....it comes to the fact that if this was K-State playing Texas, Oklahoma, or Nebraska...they would have called the penalty.....Rhoads even stated this....In reviewing the blocked extra point at the end of the 24-23 loss to the Wildcats Saturday, Rhoads said Kansas State’s Emmanuel Lamur was able to block the kick because he didn’t put his hands straight up, like most players do. Lamur’s right hand was put up at an angle, which let him block the kick.

Also..how does KSU avoid overtime games.....Since it was inducted....I dont think KSU ever had one....can someone please clearify if thats so
