    2009 vs 2007

Switching gears from AA and Bo Williams....
-Would this team beat the 07 squad?

-Is the program in a better place at this stage of development with CPR than it was under Chizik 5 games in?

I think this team beats the 07 Cyclones. The 07 offense struggled more than they currently do with the new offensive system. This team at least has a calling card and it runs the ball. Its an identity of sorts. Didnt feel Gene's 1st clone squad had an offensive identity at all. Myer and Blythe were able to put together a few good games, but they lacked consistency just as much as AA and co do now in the passing game. At least we can hang our hat on more solid run blocking.

As for defense, even though theres no name/star type player aboard like Tuba, or Bowen I dont see this defense being much worse than that squad.

God yes. I don't think it would even be close.

    Re: 2009 vs 2007

That defense had more talent for sure but didn't play as solid as this defense has so far...but than again this defense hasn't faced one good offense yet either

I would say the 07 team by a Culbertson FG

    Re: 2009 vs 2007

2009 would slobber knock 2007. 2007 could not beat inferior opponents. 2009 can. Also, say what you want about AA, but he's putting up better #'s than Meyer did that year, and is a MUCH better runner. With a healthy A-Rob, it's a blow out. Without, 2009 still gets a squeaker.

    Re: 2009 vs 2007

    2009 is 1000% better.

I would compare us to the '04 Kansas team (Mangino's 3rd year). They finished (4-7), but they had (5) close losses less than 7 points.

Myer had some running ability...always thought they shoulda devised more run plays for him that year.

We beat Iowa, Colorado, and Kansas St that year. We are 0-2 so far this year against those teams.

IMO it is a close game. This years team is much better coached but that team had more talent

If only we would have ran a QB draw more often that year, especially on 3rd and longs, no one would ever see that coming.

    Re: 2009 vs 2007

2009 by a lot. Who is going to score for 2007? I feel this defense is so much better than that defense was. The secondary is about 10 times better for sure. We have Sims and LJ, they have Ace at linebacker and that's pretty much it.

    This is very important:

    2014-15 KenPom AdjO (rating)
    116.3 (11)

    2015-16 KenPom AdjO (rating
    120.7 (3)

Ace, Banks, and Rubin make the front 7 of theres much better. Blythe is a much better WR than anyone we have currently and Meyer is a wash with Arnaud. Like I said better coaching this year. Probably more talent that year

I think the game would be disputed by the NCAA as the 2007 guys have probably used up all their eligibility.

Can we get a CyBookie on this? I'd go all in on the 2009 team...
