    Power and Light District

Man is that place amazing or what? Over $2BB investment in their downtown between P and L, Cosontino's market, Sprint Center, remodeled hotels within walking distance. From talking to the locals, Westport is toast, it's all downtown now, and very impressive

Westport has CheeseCake Factory and PF Chang's.

    They are far from TOAST.

The new roof with heating elements over the courtyard area is amazing. There are also a ton more restaurants/bars there than there was for the B12 tournament 2 years ago. Plus the Flying Saucer has some of the best beer I have ever seen in a bar. It was a GREAT trip.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Power and Light District

We stayed at the Quality Inn in Independence and the kid working the desk last night mentioned the same thing. I told him we needed a taxi company for a few of us to go to Kellys and he totally bashed the place saying it's getting taken over by a rough crowd and not to go there. We would be much better off going to the Power and Light District or the Plaza.

I told him no matter what I wanted to head to Kellys and it's a big time place to go for ISU fans and Big 12 fans in general. Well, obviously his bad mouthing influence my friends and we went to the Plaza.

    Re: Power and Light District

I guess I've just never understood the Kelly's mystique, although I have been there a few times. (note I have never been a regular at the Big VIII/XII BB tourney-which may explain that). The P and L's variety of food and beverage choices and live music venue would draw my wife and me back for a weekend getaway. It's a much more attractive location than any other neighborhood in KC.

And from what I saw when our buses got to the plaza, it was pretty much dead. Still getting new stores and stuff, but nowhere near as lively as power and light, which is where our hotel was.

Probably the craziest untroubled night of my life was at P and L Friday night. That place is the definition of fun. Expensive but fun. Makes Iowa City look like **** for a college student. Angels is absolutely nuts.

went to P&L both nights and had a great time. Definitely blew a lot of money though, but not too outrageous.

    Re: Power and Light District

P&L was pretty cool, I would love to hang out in that outdoor area with the heated canopy late in the fall when even cooler weather hits. No surprise that drinks/food were pretty expensive there, but I was surprised to find parking in the garage below McFadden's/Johnny's for only $2 for the whole night.

I'm hoping that I will end up wanting to go down there for the BigXII tourney.

    Re: Power and Light District

In really makes you wonder why a place like this hasn't been considered in the Des Moines area.
