Big 12, Big East in new bowl game at Yankee Stadium

Inaugural game is in 2010. I think I would go if we are invited next year just for the novelty of the first game. After that, not so much...

This bowl will take the seventh pick from the Big 12 and third or fourth from the Big East

I like the Big XII, Big East matchup (Big XII should always win this), but NYC? In December? New York's a great town to raise a ruckus in, but good god, that's going to be freezing.

Yes, that's what I am thinking too, but the first game should get some attention by the media. Maybe if it's played near New Year's eve, going to Times Square after a victory could be fun. I wonder what ticket prices would be like? I wonder if Stan's will be open? Anyone know if Stan's is open year round?

edit: did Stan's bite the dust with the old stadium?

Re: Big 12, Big East in new bowl game at Yankee Stadium

As someone who has spent the vast majority of his Christmases in New York growing up, it's hardly freezing in New York in December. Daytime highs are regularly in the 40s and 50s. In other words, it will likely be warmer for the bowl game at that location than it would be for the season finale in Ames. Granted, it's not the 70s and 80s of Shreveport, but I thought that town had its own problems that made the destination less than desirable for Cyclone fans...

    Fantastic...another bowl game!

Pretty soon 3 out of every four CFB teams will be going to a bowl every year. They are going to either have to reduce the bowl eligible numbers or add even more regular season games to ensure enough teams get to 6 wins. They have already allowed wins against FCS schools to count towards bowl eligibility.

By the way, I think back in the 60s they played the Gotham Bowl in NYC.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Sounds like the granddaddy of WGAF bowl games.

"Yeah, we ended up here rather then a place where people like to go in December."

"Who the hell did you **** off? NCAA must hate you guys."

"Could be worse, we could be in Ann Arbor."
