    Hawkins eating his words?

Hawkins: Big 12 North Title and No Excuses - By Steve Hanway

While he may not have realized it at the time, Dan Hawkins apparently has predicted that Colorado will win the Big 12 North. His "ten wins, no excuses" pledge means that the Buffaloes would have to win a minimum of seven conference games and two postseason games OR he'd need his team to go a perfect 8-0 in the conference and then win either the Big 12 title game or a bowl game. But there's no scenario where Colorado can get to ten wins WITHOUT winning the Big 12 North. With the next two games for CU at Texas and home against Kansas, he may be eating those words with half the season remaining. Even six wins to get bowl eligible seems out of reach, the Buffaloes go 5-3 in conference just to sneak into a bowl.

He meant, "Ten losses, no excuses."

People are making this a way bigger deal than it is. He said at Colorado their expectations shoud be "10 wins, no excuses." What's wrong with that? That should be expectations. You want your leader to demand excellence.

Rip on him for having a lousy team and playing his D3 talented son at QB....but not for those comments IMO

When asked, Hawkins replied "These could use a little salt, omm nomm nomm".

But why should their expectations be for "10 wins, no excuses"? What has Hawkins done over the last 4 years or so to make that statement? In fact, what has Colorado really done over the last decade to warrant such expectation? He was selling hope, plain and simple, and in the process his mouth wrote checks he won't be able to cash.

Yeah, but how many times did WVU turn the ball over in an effort to let CU win? They still ****** down their collective leg in a less than honorable fashion.

I agree with you. While the Buffs have been really bad, his statement shouldn't be a big deal. I'd rather him tell the team that they are going to win 10 games than say "Hey I hope we win 7 games and everybody looks good in their uniform".

Well, that'd be his second misstatement, because nobody looks good in a Colorado uniform...
