    GM kills Saturn

GM kills Saturn after Penske ends deal - Sep. 30, 2009

Barring a miracle, Saturn is done. A sad day for my family, since we own and really like our Outlook and Aura.

I was disappointed to hear of this. I think that Saturn has really put out some great cars over the past few years. RIP.

I *think/hope* because many of the Saturn vehicles are just repackaged Buick/Chevy/GMC models GM dealers will still be able to get parts/fix them. Bummer, though. We love our Outlook, too.

That is their only good car line. No wonder no one is buying anything American except Ford.

Sad but true. There aren't many other GM products that I would buy outside of the Saturn family.

    Re: GM kills Saturn

I read a little blurb yesterday that there is some politicing going on at the national level that may involve congress telling GM they can't cut as many dealers as they want to do.

That's what I was afraid of. With the government money in the picture, Washington starts making decisions instead of good business decisions.

If this continues, GM will keep going down the drain.

Pontiac was a good one too. Kinda makes you wonder what's going on that they would drop their two best lines. I thought that they would shift Chevy and GMC to SUV's and trucks only and keep either pontiac or saturn to do just sedans and coupes. I guess they hold the Colbalts in higher standing than everyone else in the world.

    Re: GM kills Saturn

We won't just miss the cars, we'll miss the service. Joe and the guys at the dealership here in Des Moines always took very good care of us. It felt like a "luxury make" level of service. Night and day compared to the Chevy dealerships we've bought from. I don't think we'll be able to go back to that. Sorry, GM.

Good point... The more control the government has over the dealerships, the worse it will get

Damn, we love our Aura and we were looking into getting an Outlook, looks like we have to go with the Acadia and pay an extra $4200 for the word GMC.

I believe its the law that they have to make the parts.

    Re: GM kills Saturn

Growing up GM was really my automaker of choice. My first two vehicles were GMs - a '97 Chevy Monte Carlo, and I currently own an '05 Pontiac Grand Prix. That being said, I have really grown apathetic to GM. First, they've killed Pontiac, which was my brand of choice. Next, there's really nothing in the Chevy lineup that really excites me at all. And while Buicks and Caddilacs are nice, none of them are in our price range.

I honestly can't see myself purchasing a GM vehicle anytime in the forseeable future.

GM is good, no matter the brand.
