    Sporting News Today - September 30, 2009

Some pretty good stuff about Gilstrap. I'm excited for this season to begin.

There is a lot of hype around this guy. People who have seen him play - is the talk legitimate? Is he over/under hyped? Would I be crazy to say he could average 15 pts and 6-8 boards a game in the B12 or does he truly have this type of talent?

    Enjoy.

I just watched him scrimmage at Hilton and he has the physical body to do it along with skills. hard to tell intangibles without seeing him against other competition.

I have been told by someone that has seen alot of Gilstrap and who's basketball opinion I trust more than anyone, that he would average 12 and 6 as a second option guy and as many as 17 and 4 as a first optioon scorer.

Actually, his sig pic isn't a beetle, it is a giant water bug (Belostomatidae family) - hemiptera not coleoptera.

Yep, one of the True Bugs.

    (and a vicious predator, too)

    Re: Sporting News article

I watched him quite a bit at the CCL, so I at least saw him play some unorganized pick up ball. He will definitely start for us. He is aggressive to the rim and he puts off a bad a** vibe that he isn't going to be pushed around. I liked that. (Although he is actually a very polite young man).

His 3 point shot this summer was really, really flat. It was strange, he had almost no arch on the ball. I didn't see him make too many outside shots, but supposedly he is a good shooter. Maybe he was just having off nights the few times I saw him. I am excited to have him on the team because he is just so different than any other player we have had since McD came along.

Brackins isn't a good 3 point shooter either, IMO. I hope this year's team works hard for good shots. The last couple seasons Brackins and others chucked up too many threes early in the possession.

These guys really shouldn't have to be shooting 3's. That's what guards are for. Power Forwards play the inside game and you dish out for 3's when defenses collapse.

Unless, of course you're Tyler Hansborough, then it's like go ahead and jack them up if they're gonna leave you open like that...

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
