Things Might Not Look Great but....

    1. We are still a 3-1 team. With new coaches, new systems, new players, etc. I find this a great accomplishment. The only loss we have is to a respectable Iowa team (I know, I know...we have only played some other mediocre teams)

    2. While we have had several key players injured/in trouble/quit..football is a team sport. We have a great coach and it is time to rally the troops. We have only lost a small percentage of the starters. We should use Money's injury as a call to the other WR's to step up.

    3. We are playing a struggling KSU team at a semi home field (not away). This is a winable game.

    4. A-Rob. This guy has more confidence than he ever has. He is coming off of a great game against Army. He is also hiding in the shadows of other RB standouts across the NCAA which he should use as fuel to propel him into the first conference game of the season.

    5. Game management. I will not elaborate but when you compare the game management (coaching, defensive playcalling, offensive playcalling, clock management, etc.) from this year to last it is night and day.

    6. The kicking game. It seems that for the first time ever we actually have a placekicker and a punter

While I will admit that I am usually the first one to drink the ISU koolaid, we still have had a great start and the potential for a great season. I started out the season with the thoughts that a .500 season would be a success but now I feel that we have the right people in the right places to do better than this.

Lets keep up our spirits and continue to look forward to the KSU game.

    End of rant!

Love the positive energy. Easy to only look at the bad things, and right now we still have some great things going on.

Nothing wrong with a little Kool-Aid.

Losing Rashawn Parker is the biggest problem right now. I feel sorry for Money's injury but we are pretty deep at wide receiver. Keeping ARob and Arnaud healthy and productive is the key to the rest of the season. The developments of the last couple of days aren't devastating. I think we still have a great shot at six wins.

well needed post.. we all need to stay positive in times like this and hopefully the team will too.. i cant make it to kc but i hope all the cyclone fans that do go down will make it jack trice south and be as loud as possible and watch our team bring home another win

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

This is the only stat that matters. USC has kept pace with us so far. Let's see where they stand next week.

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

We knew it was coming, like Lucy pulling the ball, Karma being a $#!$@

Our going 3-1 upset the established order and the pendulum is swing back through.

Lets hope the boomerang and swing back takes ISU to 4-1, but I am afraid to predict what the karma cost will be for that!!

Things look great to me! After the last two non-conference season 3-1 looks great to me.

The schedule is not too tough either, we can get back to a bowl.

Re: Things Might Not Look Great but....

Problems happen every year to every team that plays.

We're off to a great start and have already made big strides over last year.

Progress is being made and that's what I'm looking for.

A better way to say it is that there really is no superstar in the mix, so player 1 is not that different than player 6.

I would say losing Marquis Hamilton would be pretty devastating.

Losing any of the others hurts our depth and is bad for them, but I can't see how any of the others by themselves will make a difference in our W/L record at the end of the year. After all, we just won 2 games in a row and Reynolds never touched the ball in either game. And nine different receivers caught passes in those games!
