    TD released by Edmonton

Troy Davis was released by Edmonton... It's all money.. and they will miss him. At least TD has a ring ('05) and a good chunk of salary from the green and gold.

Davis, Stewart and Wiltshire looking for new clubs

EDMONTON (CFL.ca wire) -- The Edmonton Eskimos announced on Friday the release of import running back Troy Davis, import linebacker Quincy Stewart and non-import defensive back Kelly Wiltshire.

“It’s always a difficult decision to release players, especially when they’ve made the kind of contributions that Troy, Kelly and Quincy did during their time in Edmonton," said head coach and director of football operations Danny Maciocia. "The new economic realities of the CFL salary management system have to be accounted for when making personnel decisions.”

Davis was traded to Edmonton from Hamilton in October, 2005 and helped bring a spark to the Eskimos on their way to the 2005 Grey Cup championship. Last season, Davis started 16 games for the Eskimos and was the club’s leading rusher with 190 carries for 1,060 yards and four touchdowns. He also had 67 receptions for 546 yards.

I'd love to see him back in Hamilton if possible - he loved the team, the system, and the city. He still has outstanding speed, elusiveness, and blocking.

    Re: TD released by Edmonton

I absolutely LOVE Troy and will never forget his back to back 2,000 + yard seasons.

People in this country will look at him as not as successful after college because he is not in the NFL, but that is bs, the CFL is a great league and he has a lot to be proud of. I sure wish I had a Grey Cup under my belt...hope he finds another home soon and gets on a football field (which is where he belongs with his talent and work ethic.)

BEST OF LUCK TROY!!! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!

It looks like Troy can still play! 1000+ yards and a 5.6 ypc average + 67 receptions... Go CFL Cyclones!

Have you ever heard him talk? He & Darren aren't the smartest guys in the world, & I don't think they could effectively communicate or teach college kids... but I still enjoyed their times in Ames. I had a speech class with Darren & that was quite a treat =(

Agreed. It's not a knock on the guy - just a fact. He's not well-spoken. Plus - as another poster noted - doesn't appear to me that he's done playing football.
