    Bud Light Golden Wheat

Anyone else try this yet? I bought some at Hy-Vee in West Des Moines for the game last night. I thought the taste was pretty good and 110 calories is a bonus. The only knock I have on it is that it seems a bit flat and not very heady. I bet it would be good with a lemon but i forgot to buy one. The problem I usually have with wheat beers is they fill you up so fast but the light aspect of this seemed to help with that. I'll probably keep some in stock for grilling and nights where I only want to have a few. The beer snobs on this site will find a reason to tear it up but that's what they do to any light beer.

I also tried it this weekend and it reminded me of Leinie's Sunset Wheat or Blue Moon (just not as good as those). If you are looking to put something in your beer, an orange usually goes better with wheat beers than lemon does.

I saw an ad for this and wonder if this is just Shock Top, or did they make a totally different brew?

I will have to look for it and try it. I like almost anything that is beer. Except Gluek's red tab of death, hope that does not make me a beer snob.

    Re: Bud Light Golden Wheat

Iowa City Brew Fest was this past weekend...was a fundraiser for American Heart Association (seems weird doesn't it?)...lots of good beers there...just wish I could remember which ones I liked! Guess I enjoyed too many of them...

It was funny though to see people lining up to try Bud Light Golden Wheat with all of the unique beers that were available...

This is the line of a guy who is not a beer snob. It's the guy who thinks the beer has to be hand crafted, made in small batch, specially poured or held at an exact temperature that gets me. To me there are two kinds of beer, warm and cold, I like them both. Some days I drink two and some days I drink 24 so I need different beers for those applications.

I'll give it a try, but I'm gonna be hard pressed to put it in front of Goose Island 312 or New Belgium Sunshine Wheat.

    Re: Bud Light Golden Wheat

Bud Light Golden Wheat is in fact a different brew than Shock Top. Shock Top is full flavor and about 150 calories, where Bud Light Golden Wheat is only 110 calories. Personally, I thought Bud Light Golden Wheat was outstanding considering it's only 110 calories. Also, thought it had a lot more drinkability than your typical wheat bear. Should be good for tailgating.

I went to Grant's Farm in STL on Sunday and tried it as my free sample(s) ............ I liked it.

    Re: Bud Light Golden Wheat

I love wheat beers and hefeweizens, so I will definitely give this a try. I’d like to try it soon, but not this weekend because it would be sacrilegious to drink any wheat except Boulevard in Kansas City.

I am far from a beer snob, about the only thing I don’t like is Coors Light, and that’s only because I like to be completely surprised by whether or not a beer is cold when I drink it. Those damn mountains give it away every time.

I drink just about everything. The only things I refuse to drink are bud light lime, miller chill and those god-awful Michelob Ultra fruit flavored debacles.

Some beer I drink to actually enjoy, and some I drink because it's convenient.

Anything from the macros tends to be in that latter category, mainly because of the style they are brewed in, but also because the macros tend to shy away from any sort of flavor out of fear of offending casual drinkers. It is nice that they are low in alcohol, though. It makes tailgating much more do-able over the course of 6 or 8 hours.

I guess that's what they mean by "drinkability".

That being said, I haven't tried this new AB product, and I'm looking forward to it, though I don't have very high expectations.
