    Just kinda been thinking recently...

This may not be fair at all to Rhoads or the new staff, but it's somewhat comparable in my opinion. First off, we fired Dan McCarney due to his inability to really "get over the hump" or win the "big game" we were on the brink of winning a couple of times while he was at Iowa State.

Now, this Saturday, Paul Rhoads has Iowa State in a position to win a very big football game. Obviously, it's not going to determine the Big XII north or anything along those lines, but for the sake of ISU's season (and hopes of a bowl game), it's one that ultimately needs to be won.

As I said, this really may not be a fair comparison at all, but it his kind of similar if you really think about it. I'll be behind Rhoads 100% no matter what the outcome is, but I'm just excited to see what he can do in a "big game".

Looking forward to this Saturday and many more "big games" down the road!! Hope to see many ISU fans in KC, I know I'll be there. Go Iowa State!

    Not comparable at all.

NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section.

Comparing anything in year 1 is not a good idea.

How about this one...Paul Rhoads has the best first year record 4 games into the season of any ISU coach since 1931....That's a fact.

To sufficiently compare, Rhoads would have to get us to the game to win the Big 12 and lose. Twice in a row. We need about 8 years to do this comparison

Exactly. This is not even close to being relevant.

on a smaller scale and i do agree it is comparable. If he wins it may cause people to believe that when put into a more meaningful game down the road we will come out on top.

This was what I was kind of getting at. But that's why I said it's not really comparable myself. Just a thought was all I was getting at.

On a teeny, tiny scale....I can see where the OP was going with this.

What's your point? All coaches/teams have big games.

McCarney's long gone. Let it go.

I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.

We should start one comparing Rhoads' tenure to the season following the Dirty Thirty for Clay Stapleton..........

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

All games are big games. I can agree that we wont win the bis 12 north this weekend but you can almost kiss it goodby if you lose. For us to maximise our (fans) expectations we need to win the games that are winnable. We need to win and therefor this is a must win!!

4-1 and this place is going crazy. 3-2 and the rooftops are standing room only waiting to jump off.

Our bowl aspirations are on the line this Saturday. Don't kid yourself, this is a pretty big game for this program right now. Not Rhoads per se, but the program and general perception thats theres some hope here.
