    Someone please explain

How is it that KSU was able to play two FCS teams in one year? Was it some special deal where they couldn't find anyone else so the NCAA allowed it or is one of them a transitional team or what?

Just the same, I can see why KSU fans are down about their team. Their only two victories are against FCS teams, one is an awful FCS team and the other one they almost lost to at home.

I believe there is nothing stopping you from playing 4, but only 1 can count towards bowl qualification.

They have to win 7 games now to be bowl elgible. Only one counts toward going to a bowl.

Because KSU has been granted special permission to join FCS this season so they can use the Wildcats as tune-ups before FCS conference play begins.

Okay, I thought there was a rule that said you could only play one FCS team, but I see it only applies to bowls eligibility. I guess it really isn't going to matter for KSU anyway.

It is pretty cut, dried, and simple if you think about it--$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Snyder took one look at what he inherited and knew it was not a bowl team. The extra home game helps out the athletic department treasury.

I'm all in favor of not playing FCS teams at all.

Did Snyder have anything to do with it? I'm assuming the schedule was set before Snyder was re-hired late last year.

EDIT -- Maybe it wasn't. I just looked at their schedule for next year and they do still have one slot left open. Might also have been the case for this year's schedule before they hired him.

As was mentioned, they only get to count one towards bowl eligibility, and only if that FCS team has given out enough scholarships...

A deserving winning team is defined as one that wins a minimum of six games against Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) competition and has a record that includes more wins than losses. [Exception: Each year, a FBS institution may count a victory against a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponent that has averaged 90 percent of the permissible maximum number of grants-in-aid per year in FCS over a rolling two-year period.]

They shouldn't allow any FCS games to count toward bowls. It used to be you needed 6 wins out of 11 games and none could be FCS (or one every 4 years or something). Now you need 6/12 and one can be.

They need to make it 7 wins with the 12 game schedules. No 6-6 team should be bowling.

I possibly disagree. I don't know the numbers but I would guess that they would pay the FCS a considerable amount of money to come play them and I don't know if that could all be regained through this one game. I could be wrong but I think there is more to it then what you mentioned.

I think Snyder possibly thought they may lose their other one and scheduled another one to try and guarantee they would get the allotted one win.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

Too many bowl games - had to loosen the requirements, plus, they lengthened the schedule.

    Supply and demand, my friends.

If enough sponsors are willing to put up the money to host a bowl where you need to get down to 6-6 teams to fill all the slots, then it will continue to happen.
