Mac to PC Font Conversion Help

I'm working on a piece using InDesign. I'm on a pc and our graphic designer is on a Mac. For the life of us, we can't get these two fonts to work from her computer to mine. Anyone know of a way to convert these two fonts so I can use them too?

    Try this:

Fonts & Things - TOOLS - Font Conversion

I used this many years ago to convert several Mac fonts (particularly Monaco and Techno) into ones that Windows could use.

Was on that website earlier. Am I correct that you have to pay for all of those softwares? Trying to find a free version.

The one I used was free. It was more than 5 years ago when I did this, so maybe things have changed.

Which fonts are you trying to convert? What kind of fonts are they (TrueType, AAT, OpenType, etc)?

Don't know the types, but the names are Janson and Meta, plus whatever else goes along with them.

It's hard to say without knowing more about the fonts. Does the font come with InDesign, or did she buy it from a foundry? How are you trying to install it on your PC?

Re: Mac to PC Font Conversion Help

Theoretically, you should be able to copy the font file from her font library and transfer them to your PC, especially if they're TTF. I thought you weren't supposed to have to do conversions anymore with OS X. But I could be totally off on that.

Has she preflighted and packaged the file? That should pull all the necessary files (fonts, images, etc...) for you.

From wikipedia Fonts on Macintosh - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mac OS X supports a wide variety of font formats. It supports most of the font formats used on earlier systems, where the fonts were typically stored in the resource fork of the file. In addition to the data-fork version of TrueType and the Adobe/Microsoft OpenType fonts, OS X also supports Apple's own data-fork-based TrueType format, called data-fork suitcases with the filename extension '.dfont'. Data-fork suitcases are old-style Mac TrueType fonts with all the data from the resource fork transferred unchanged to the data fork. The system also supports the instances created using the "multiple master" PostScript variant.

If this is an old-style font, there could be problems trying to get it over to the PC...
