    Anytime Fitness

Winter in Iowa is fast approaching, judging by the chill in the air this morning.

I've been running as the staple of my "get fit" efforts. I'd like to continue through the winter, but am not all that receptive to the idea of trying to bundle up on those cold days.

There's an Anytime Fitness that's near my house - the free weights would be a minor plus to go with stair steps and a few other things they look to have.

Anyone cue me into what a membership there costs? On a monthly basis, or a family plan for my wife and I?

Or alternatives. Like I said, the AF is a few blocks away, which is a big plus.

    TIA

With a one year membership, it would be in the $35 a month ballpark. That's a single person cost.

Should not be more than the upper 20s a month. You can get a full service club for $40 anymore.

If all you are looking for is something basic and you can go during normal hours I would check out Accel Fitness.

    That's interesting... thx.

I'm guessing Membership option 2 is some sort of contract? And #1 is a month-to-month? Or what is the difference?

I know the new YMCA here in Waukee is about to open and it has a track around the top of it. Not sure what memberships are gonna be but this place looks really cool.

I'm surprised how expensive YMCA memberships are in the DM area. Or maybe I'm just behind the times.

Does anyone know what the monthly rates are for Ames Racquet and Fitness? I have been thinking about joining, but wanted to get some insight before they tried signing my up for the next 20 years.

52.43 for me per month. I go month by month because I will move before I fulfill a year contract, so I'm sure its cheaper at a yearly rate. And yes, I do know it's expensive but it's one block from my apt.

When I was a member a couple of years ago it was around $35/month. They did have some rather large joining fees though.

Ames Racquet and Fitness is ridiculously expensive and if you want to play tennis/basketball tack on another $20-30 bucks a month. I'd go with the Anytime Fitnesses in town.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?
