A child gets killed by a driver

A 13 year old child gets killed last night. Child was 13 named Devin. He was killed at 11:45 PM going to a party at a church. I am sorry this happened...But this is really upsetting...on the parents side. Sure the driver needs to face the music, but the parents need to held liable also to a point.

NOW as a parent I have the following questions:

    1. Why was Devin (13 years old) out at 11:45 GOING to a party with a 17 year old as the oldest.

    2. What Church has a "Party" at 11:45PM at night on a Saturday when there is church the next morning

    3. What were the parents thinking or better yet doing on the Eastside where they reside?

Number 1, the story said they were walking home from the church. Number 2, I can't believe someone is trying to place blame on the parents for a hit and run, classless.

I would agree. These poor people just lost their child. That is the worst thing that can happen.

    This post sux.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

Re: A child gets killed by a driver

The one thing I will agree with is letting a 13 y/o walk home at almost midnight. Probably depends how far it is, but anything over a block or two isn't going to happen by me. Given the near-abduction in Johnston last week - across the street isn't happening without my watchful eyes.

At the same time, I did plenty of things my parents didn't know about in my teen years.

I'm a bit surprised a church would just turn kids loose without any supervision at such an hour - but same comment above holds in this case too.

We had all kinds of Saturday activities at our church - including services. A church event is probably better than the hanging at the 7/11. Alot of this events are created to give kids OTHER things to do than the usual, more troublesome activities on a Saturday night.
