ISU gets a vote in the Harris Poll

    Harris Poll

Go all the way to the bottom, ISU got one vote. Tied with Texas Tech, I honestly can not believe it. I wonder who it was.

And another reason why polls are so stupid half the time. I can think of about 75 schools that are better than us.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I said this in another thread, this must be the stupidest poll out there. KSU has two votes in it and TT has one.

Also, if KSU is receiving more votes than ISU, why is ISU favored in the up coming game.

Harris Poll: panel of former coaches, players and administrators, and current and former members of the media.

My guess for our vote: Jim Walden.

Edit: They don't list the 2009 voters, but Jim was one of the voters in 2006, 2007, and 2008:

Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

Could be someone affiliated with KSU. Happens all the time on the coach's poll. A coach will put in a vote for a non-ranked team that they are playing next, hoping it will enhance the victory if they win or lighten the loss if they lose.

Note that KSU has a couple votes as well.

Here are the 2009 Harris Poll voters. 1/5 odds says our vote came from Jim Walden:

Re: ISU gets a vote in the Harris Poll

We don't get legit votes until we are 5-1 or 6-2. Even then it's a longshot. I think we have to beat either Kansas or Nebraska to get up there. Can you imagine the CF pandemonium that would ensue if we were ranked?

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

FWIW, the Harris poll accounts for 1/3 of the BCS formula.

The BCS formula also takes into a account Colley's Matrix, which currently has ISU at #32 (and the Hawks #1). (link - Colley's Bias Free College Football Rankings )
