    OT: Banks in Ames

Just a quick topic that I expect to die quickly. I got some Euros for Christmas because I thought I'd be going to study abroad. I've decided against it for financial reasons, but now I have all these Euros and nowhere to spend them. Are there any banks in Ames that'll convert these babies back to US dollars if I don't hold a bank account with them?

Banks connected to the Fed should be able to. Try US Bank or Wells. I would assume they could do it for you.

Not sure if this helps, but I deposited a check that was in Australian dollars at the US Bank here in Ames. It wasn't too big of a deal, but it did take a couple weeks to process.

First National should be able to help you out. Make sure you go to the main office downtown. When I worked there in the early 90's we would cash in or dispense foreign currency. Best option, before you go to any of the banks, just call to verify.
