    On to K-State...

Has anyone seen them play this year? What do they do well and what are their weaknesses? I understand that their QB has struggled mightily, and their d-line has not played well. Assuming A-Rob is 100% or close to it, that could be huge. Brandon Banks definitely scares me.

I think we continue to take care of the ball, get a strong ground game out of A-Rob and Austen, and the defense continues their solid, but not spectacular play against an offense that hasn't found much of an identity.

    21-13 Cyclones.

This is one of those game that is completely unpredictable. I could see a close game or a large margin of victory (15-20pts) for either team.

We will learn alot about the Cyclones in KC.

KSU returned two kicks for TD's this weekend against TTU. Special teams will be huge, can't afford mistakes. If they win, that's how they'll beat us.. that or us committing multiple turnovers. We should keep it simple and ride the run game, make them defend Arnaud's legs and allow the pass game to open up. KSU thinks this is a winnable game too.

    Re: On to K-State...

I thought they look good vs. UCLA.

They ran a lot of Wildcat formations and ran the ball fairly well vs the Bruins. Banks is very small and quick, their RB Thomas looked very good, but I think our Run Defense is alot better than last year.

It should be a very interesting game.

    Re: On to K-State...

This game will be the game to decide the season for ISU. I don't think anyone knows what either team really has. We got slapped against Iowa who looks to be a pretty good team. Our victories are against a poor IAA team, an average mac team minus their best player and starting a freshman qb, a poor service academy.

KSU on the otherhand barely held on to a win against a decent 1AA team, lost on the road to ULL who just got blasted by Nebraska, lost a close one to UCLA, and beat a team that Central would challenge last night. What's this tell us, neither team has beaten anyone that would give UNI a game. I think if we don't turn the ball over we win this game. KSU doesn't have the athletes on defense to stop ISU. They do have good athletes at WR, but they have a mediocre qb and no rb. If ISU wins next week, we will go to a bowl game. If we don't win next week, we may finish the season at 3-9 which would be a tremendous disappointment. I still think we're going bowling.

    Re: On to K-State...

This game can easily go either way..for us it depends on which AA shows up. If he plays like he did this weekend we will be golden but KSU will capitalize on mental errors just as Iowa did.
We've turned this game into a tradition since my GF's Dad is a KSU alumni and we always travel to the games no matter who's house the game is at. We have also started to refer to this game as the battle for the bottom, as far as the North goes, and have decided that it's basically anyone's game each year (lately).

No doubt, KSU is a huge game for us. But I don't think it will define our season. We'll move on regardless of the outcome. 4 -1 would sure be a great start, though.

K-State is horrible. Not just bad, but horrible. I don't know if horrible is the correct way to describe them. Both Kent State and Army are far better teams than K-State.

We have not been 4-1 since 2002. One game at a time.

You obviously didn't watch them against UCLA. I'm not convinced our team is "not horrible" either.

This game is a tossup plain and simple.

We have started the conference season 0-3 every year since 2002 (2003- present). K-State is a huge game.

More importantly we haven't won a conference game since 2007. That'd be a HUGE monkey to get off our backs this weekend. We've proven we can win on the road, albeit against an awful team but a win is a win, now if we can win a conference football game, this team's confidence might shoot through the roof. It's easier to get excited watching film when you're winning football games and having fun. The more we win, the more confidence we build, the better off we'll be late in the season.

I have no idea on this one. KSU looked pretty decent against UCLA, but I don't know what the hell happened against Louisiana Lafayette.

    Re: On to K-State...

Coming off both team's most complete games of the season, I don't think this game will be quite as ugly as I did a couple weeks ago, but both squads are far from smooth running operations, and I still think the team that wins will just plain and simple make fewer mistakes than the other guys (brilliant stuff, I know right?).

We all know what ISU has to do to win this game and it starts with this phrase: DO NOT TURN THE BALL OVER! We did a good job last night of holding on to the ball and not forcing stupid plays. I think time of possession is going to play a huge role in this game for us, because KSU does not have a quick scoring offense (outside of Brandon Banks...who's yet to score a TD from scrimmage by the way). If we can chew up the clock and go on some long scoring drives and HOLD ONTO THE BALL, I love our chances.

On defense, we have to stop the run. That's about the only positive KSU has had on this season. Outside of the NDSU game, we've done a serviceable job against the run this year and that has to continue. Coffman has struggled and the more we force him to put the ball in the air, the better our chances, because from what I've watched of him, and talking to my buddy at KSU, he's not good enough to beat B12 teams with his arm.

On special teams, I think we should just avoid kicking to Banks altogether.

If we hold onto the ball, make A-Rob the center of our offensive game plan and continue to be serviceable on defense. I like our chances. The last two games have done a lot for our confidence and these guys believe they can win this game.
