    McDonald's All-American list out

    http://www.mcdonaldsallamerican.com/

Craig Brackins was nominated but didn't make the final list.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

    Re: McDonald's All-American list out

Not surprising that Garrett made it, they nominate from 1200-1800 people. That list would just about have to include about every eligible D1 prospect in the nation.

I'm willing to bet Brackins knee problems did not help his cause in this regard. He wouldn't have been at 100% when people were evaluating him.

Let me give you a little tip, the team was selected back in August! You really think people were 'evaluated' recently? HAHAHAHAHA.

    Re: McDonald's All-American list out

I was looking through some Iowa high school players names and had to laugh. I am not going to call out anyone in particular, but there are some guys that are the 3rd or 4th best player on the team. A lot of these guys couldn't play D3 ball

A high school coach told me that he could nominate as many players as he felt deserved it. Lots of people get nominated knowing full well that they won't be on the McDonald's All America team...I guess it's just a way to get a kid's name out there.

That makes sense. I called my brother who goes to school w/ 2 kids that are on that list. I asked him if he knew one of the kids was on the list and he said that him and the kid where talking about it, and the kid has no idea how it happened. He even made fun of himself a little bit saying, "How can I be on that list when I don't even start every game for my high school team?"

Thought that was kind of funny

I didn't think that Michael Beasley was eligible since he was a 5th year player at a prep school.

    Re: McDonald's All-American list out

See I heard the same thing about Brackins being a 5th year player but it looks like there is no truth to that b/c he was nominated

    Re: McDonald's All-American list out

Here is the rule about fifth year players!!

Only true seniors are allowed to play in the McDonald's All American Game. Players are only eligible once
during their high school career to play in the game. Once a player begins the ninth grade he has only four
years to complete his high school eligibility. Any player repeating his senior year will not be able to
participate and any fifth-year player that had repeated an earlier year (freshman, sophomore or junior) will
    also be ineligible to play.
