    ISU and the Wildcat formation?

what does everyone think about us utilizing this?

I was sitting here watchin the kent game on cyclone replay with my cousin and we think it would suit us well. put Money Reynolds in at QB and run the ball the majority of the time like most teams do but then we will still have the ability to pass it with Reynold's QB expereince.

Im obviously not saying that we need to run it 30-40% of the time but just about 5-10 plays a game would be nice to see. oh and og course we'd have to rename it the WildCy formation

    thought?

Re: ISU and the Wildcat formation?

Arnaud is multi-dimensional enough I don't think we'd really gain much from it...

I'm actually pretty sure A-Rob was in the gun to take a snap vs NDSU but something happened and we didn't get the play off...

I would rather us try to work on fundamentals like reading defenses, holding onto the ball and not throwing to the other team before we try gimmick offenses.

Re: ISU and the Wildcat formation?

I'm not against it but the only reason I don't like it is that for ISU is requires subs and doesn't really throw off ppl like it should since we're already in a hurry up no huddle that has them prepared at all moments anyway. I like Arnaud, but not in this formation so a sub of money, tiller, arob, etc all need to be in there for it, I would still just rather see plays that get Money throwing the ball, I think he should do that at least 1-2 times each game.

idk about gimmick, the wildcat is a form of the single wing offense....which is like the oldest offense around. but, i do know what you mean in that we need to perfect a certain number of plays first before we add more to the playbook.

Yes, if we're going to run the ball, lets take it out of the guy averaging 5.6 yds a carry.....

Give that ****** the ball 30 times a game.

We tried the wildcat against Iowa too, I think there was a false start tho or something, real ugly.

They do add things slowly to gameplans. I am sure we will see it at some point when the team is ready.

If Arnaud doesn't wake up I'm sure we'll resort to it on a more regular basis. Won't have a choice.

This is a ridiculous comment on a serious thread.

Pretty sure we ran it against Kent St. A-Rob back to take the snap and Money coming in motion. If I remember, A-Rob ran it for a gain of a couple.

Re: ISU and the Wildcat formation?

I would like to see what would happen if both Tiller and Arnaud were in the backfield.

i.e. Bootleg one to each side of the field, then the other also becomes a receiver OR can throw deep.

Re: ISU and the Wildcat formation?

I definately recall doing the Wildcat against Iowa. There was a false start on the play, but the execution of it was ugly regardless. It honestly look like a desperation play as it was so poorly executed.

I am one that believes it would work well. As someone mentioned it's just another form a single wing offense. Even having a real mobile QB can achieve the same thing, it's just some teams don't have that and end up putting a WR or RB in that position for the speed.

Re: ISU and the Wildcat formation?

I think its a good option, but of course I would! Lol...no actually Arnaud is running the ball very well. It wouldnt be necessary in my eyes unless we were just doing it for the heck of it. It would spruse things up a bit...maybe its coming in the "near" future.... :-)
