    Florzak, Mosman, Lightbourne

So i wonder how many minutes will these three get?? It's all their senior seasons... Anna Florzak is a excellent shooter so i could see her getting in there and playing some productive minutes like she did in the big 12 tournament her sophomore year.. Lightbourne will probably play 5-11 minutes every game because we only have 3 other post player whom are all freshmen!!! Lastly we have Mossman who i think will struggle to find playing time I really thought she'd be a 4 year starter after verballing during her freshmen or sophomore year of HS and having a excellent HS career has struggled to see time on the court and with all the guards we have ahead of her.... Aus, Bolte, Whit, Flo, Stuckey, Chassidy....

    Re: Florzak, Mossman, Lightbourne

Lightbourne was far more productive last year than Florzak or Mossman. If that holds true, I would expect to see her more this year as well.

BF indicated in an interview that Lightborne has the best opportunity of any of the players to earn minutes on the court this season.

I hope Florzak gets the most camera time. That is all.

I agree with BF (and everybody in this thread) that Lightbourne will almost certainly see some court action. She's shown glimpses of her ability, and I'd be very happy to see her out there 5-12 mpg or so. Obviously a lot depends on how good the freshmen are plus any possible injuries, but even if everyone is healthy and the three freshmen are all candidates for Big 12 FOY Lightbourne would still likely see regular PT. Our post depth is just that shallow.

Mosman and Florzak will each have the opportunity to playing time. We lost Ezell, Yackley, and Rockall. Williams and Stuckey will probably split the extra Ezell time, and Schroll and Cole will get the first shot at getting the kind of minutes Williams got last season, but Yackley and Rockall averaged a total of around 12 mpg (although neither played in every game) and if we play any amount of 4-guard offense there will be even more minutes available. I bet Mosman and Flo will both get plenty of chances to play in our relatively easy non-conf schedule, and at least one of the two will get 4 or 5 mpg in conference.

As with everything, a whole lot depends on what we have coming in. Will all three freshman posts be ready for Div I? I really don't know what to expect with Cole or Schroll. Obviously the better the freshman play the less Lightbourne, Mosman, and Flo will play. The worse the freshmen play... etc. Fennelly showed last season that he really preferred giving the freshmen minutes if everything else is equal -- Mosman and Flo probably would have been about as good as Yackley and Rockall, but the former only got about 1/3 the minutes of the latter.

    Re: Florzak, Mossman, Lightbourne

Lightbourne has the best chance as she can help make for a full inside rotation. While I understand Poppens has a motor, the other two freshman bigs may need more rest than a 3-player rotation can bring. If Lightbourne can't step up, the we will see some four-guard lineups. That might give Flo and Shelly a chance for more minutes their senior year.

I didn't look it up, I just assumed that the OP spelled it right.

I hope all three get some quality PT this year. They as well as all the girls are great people and have done everything asked of them.

i cant wait for the season to start..it really will be interesting to see who steps up
i see GL stepping up big this season

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
