    Proper punishment?

What's everyone's opinion on the proper punishment for Banks, Laing, and Hamlin?

IMO... Rhoads needs to make a bold statement. Be strict from the start.

So, I think they should each get a 4 game suspension. The maximum that this would get at any other school is probably 2 games. I say go double of what would happen at most schools.

The players need to realize that this stuff won't be tolerated.... period.

    Re: Proper punishment?

I think it would be along the lines of what Matt was saying in his opening segment...actually the only part of it that I agreed with - one game.

I guess I would need more info before I judge. But be strict, as well as fair.

Take whatever Hammerschmidt got...and cut it in half. Hammerschimdt could have killed someone with an OWI, these guys were chiefin' in an appartment.

    Re: Proper punishment?

My initial thought was three games. Two games would probably be acceptable. One game is not enough in my opinion. I agree that the OWI should be punished more severely than this incident.

    Re: Proper punishment?

So this stuff was found on September 11th??? The players played the next day against Iowa and a whole week went by before anything came out, including the fact that the players involved played yet another game??? Something doesn't make sense but if players are willing to smoke weed and drive drunk DURING the season, I'm guessing that their is very little discipline thus far.

    Re: Proper punishment?

I'm guessing Banks gets a harsher punishment--fifth year seniors have to offer better leadership to freshmen and sophs. Plus--what are the NCAA rules?

    Re: Proper punishment?

I would say 2-3 games. Plus lots of extra running.

    Re: Proper punishment?

What is all entailed in a suspension?

Does it affect the scholarship in some way?

Do they still get food and university housing?

Do they go to games or have to stay away?

    Do they go to practice?

Banks is a senior, and he might be looking for exposure to move on to a pro career, which he won't get if he can't play. The other two are redshirt freshman that don't see much PT.

Other than that, is a multi-game suspension really more than a slap on the wrist?

Arrest warrant wasn't issued until Sept. 21 (yesterday).
